My old man cat has a lot of trouble jumping due to lack of claws. (Adopted that way) He is weaker now and his ability to leap or climb/balance is inhibited.
Back in the 70s one of my sisters adopted a cat that was declawed. It didn't seem to effect him that much, as he treed every other cat in the neighborhood and had our dogs scared of him as well.
That being said, we've found that if you give a house cat enough scratching posts they'll leave your furniture alone (mostly). Once in a while, they get that wild look in their eyes, get the zoomies, and attack... look out!
