Tractor
NH TC35A w/ 16LA FEL
Tractor (bare) = 2628lbs
Loaded Tires: 600lbs x2 = 1200lbs
16LA FEL = 1100lbs

Total Tractor Weight= 4928 lbs

Trailer Weight=1700

Total Towing Weight:6628

The vehicle i am using (2010 gmc canyon v8) has 6000lb max towing capacity. Do you think i can handle it?

To close to the edge for me. Other factors like tralier length and tongue weight need to be considered as well.

Might be okay for an occasional short trip. If you don't need the loader you can easily lighten the load.

What tractor do you have???

A 2600lb tractor is not very big and 600lbs ballast in each tire requires some pretty big tires. I may be wrong but it doesn't add up to me. My L3400 weighs 2600lbs as well and ~250lbs of liquid is about all that will fit in the R1's that come on it. I know R4's can hold a little more, but 600lbs is a LOT more.

What in the world is a Canyon? I do not stay up on GM stuff but only 6,000# tow rating on a V8??? Seems awful low. I guess if its a little truck with a big engine.

As for the loaded tires I think you are high. My tractor has 10x24 ags and loading both only added 400# or so.

I too think that your tire weight sounds high. As far as towing, it really would not be safe at highway speeds. As mentioned, if only going short distances that do not exceed say 45mph, I would do it. Instead of guessing on the weight of the total combo, go and get it weighed and know for sure.

Just my opinion. ;)

Although I would be worried about towing capacity, I would be more worried about stopping capacity.

This might help.

Liquid Tire Ballast

The following table represents the weight achieved by filling the tire 75% full (valve level) with water.
Use of chemical agents to prevent freezing will affect the weight.

It would be nice to know what tractor we are dealing with here.

I am not up with the NH's but I think the smallest tractor they put the 16la on was the TC35. Wich would have the 17.5L-24 tires which hold 55gal.

If calcium was used @ ~11 lbs per gal, that would indeed be 600lbs a tire. BUT a TC35 doesnt weigh 2600, it is more like 3300lbs.

Just too many if's with out knowing the tractor and what was used for ballast.
