Front-end loader falls on car in intersection
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS-TV) - Columbia police are investigating after a bizarre incident left a tractor on top of a car Tuesday morning.
A front-end loader being transported on the back of a City of Columbia dump truck fell onto a car at the intersection of Harden St. and Calhoun St. sometime before 10:00 a.m.
It is unclear exactly what caused the tractor to fall onto the car.
The driver of the car says he is okay.
Traffic in the area was slow while crews cleaned up the mess.

If you look closely it looks as if the the rear hitch and weldments on the left side failed and twisted and that is what caused the trailer and load to roll over and fall. The pintle is intact but the weldments connected to the left side of the trailer failed and the left turn simply created the roll over accident.

Here is a video news report about it; some good footage. That trailer is way to high and narrow for that machine IMO. Top heavy and narrow wheel base is an understatement.

Everything on the video is compressed horizontally. Look at the oval tractor tires.

After watching the video, that trailer appears to be loaded near it's limits, especially with a CG that high, and too short for that hoe.

No wonder it went over.
