I will be purchasing a tractor and cannot decide between Kubota or JD.
Both are competitively priced so price will not be the deciding factor.

The Kubota model is Grand L4760 and JD is 4052R. Kubota is 2018 model
and JD is 2017 (additional discount of $1,500 for 2017 model)

I will be trying both out at the dealers within the next couple weeks.
Any help appreciated to help me make a decision.

Thank you.

If either one will suit your needs sufficiently...buy the one you like operating the best and are most comfortable operating...
...while test driving try to imagine different tasks and options...i.e., looking backwards possibly operating auxiliary rear hydraulics etc...

Thank you. I would be brush hogging, moving round bales with bale spear and snow blower (rear).

You can probably purchase a deLuxe kit Yanmar brand tractor with the identical Yanmar 51.5-horsepower engine for less money than the Deere.

The Kubota has 2.5 LESS horsepower than the Deere/Yanmar but the Kubota's normally aspirated engine is significantly less complex than the turbo-charged Deere/Yanmar.

If you are at 6000'+ altitude the turbo-charged Yanmar engine would be advantageous.

I am in a small town, east coast and these are my only options for subcompact, other than going for the New Holland or other large agriculture tractors. The displacement for the JD is cu. in. (L) 127.6 (2.091). The JD is a yanmar engine on this particular tractor. Dealer mostly deals with large ag tractors but is bringing this model in for me to try. Both dealers are being very competitive to get my business so I'm down to what is easiest for me to handle.

Thank you.

I looked at both models last Nov and went Kubota. Ended up going a bit larger for the L6060HSTC because there wasn’t much price difference and I liked the cat2 3 point as I had it on the tractor I traded.

Made my decision based on financing options, dealer responsiveness, and evaluating both tractors (or similar models) in person. Kubota seems to resale higher in my area and that was also a concern for me.

I liked the JD cab but wasn’t impressed with ease of getting to components for service and there was no step on the right side because I think the battery is down there. Thought the hydraulic lines were better protected on the Kubota and I plan to do a lot of clearing in rough areas. Liked how the Kubota cab had the fuel so low on the right. Was also overwhelmed by the number of options JD had and couldn’t get a good grasp on all of what I needed from the dealers. Again, if your JD dealer is close and awesome definitely put more weight there.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Don’t get me wrong the JD seemed like an awesome premium machine, but there were many factors for me which made my final decision. Evaluate both in person and talk to dealers and get them to give you pricing and go over available financing.

Matt
