Very old as twisted pair with cotton insulation from the 1920's
No worry as it matches the utility poles of the same era.
As a Housing provider the powers that be by statute require me to maintain inside plain old telephone lines with at least 1 working jack per rental.
Back in the 80' it was not unusual to have a 3 bedroom home with 4 or more lines... I would generally remove all the wires in excess of one at move out so as to not be responsible for maintaining multiple lines.
