RTV 500 vs RTV 900

iirc the 900's were a bit funky shifting, they needed the brake stepped on to relive pressure and blow shifting. depending on the age, updates and adjustments, some will hit the internal relief valve brake and slide the rear tires just by lifting the foot off the throttle.

I thought you had it figured out, but by the time I finished reading I realized you did not. :D

On loose gravel or snow a fast lift off on our 2006 RTV900 lifting off the throttle in 2WD will slide the rears, same as old snowmobiles.
I believe that is normal for the older ones. There is also the pressure relive pull knob that you have to pull if the transmission has any load on it when you shift. In any case, you just learn to drive smoothly really quick.

Lifting your foot off the throttle should not slide the tires.

It's simply an HST system. An HST tractor would slide the rears too if the weight were distributed as the RTV is.

Mike, I didn't like the sudden stops. I added a Coast Valve. I prefer to use the brakes to stop if needed.
