In the event the Markhams no longer own the business they owe past customers nothing.
True - ...... it's not that the Markhams that owe the customers ...... but ...... it would however be a prudent business move on the part of the new owners (if there are any) to clarify the situation with respect to the Markhams ..... as opposed to just creating a mystery .... ;)

I received an email from Melissa on 16 Sep 10. I know it was from her because this was at the bottom:

I wish you prosperity and great health in 2010!
Melissa Markham
Office Manager
Gator Attachments @ Markham Welding

Gator Attachments

I too, hope all is well with the Markhams.

Of course all the past customers wish the Markhams the best, I would just like to know what happened to them because they were like friends to me...friends are concerned about friends when unexplanable things happen.

If you had a friend that all of a sudden dropped off the face of the earth without explanation wouldn't you want to know what happened? I am not a voyeur, I am just concerned for some people who became friends to me by doing a fair amount of business with them.

Because of the tone of the email I received, I did not think I would be getting any truthful informaiton by calling the number on the email.

The Markhams served this group extremely well and they had many repetitive customers, I just thought someone out there might know what happened.

I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling from the email I received and it immediately put up red flags for me.

God's speed to the Markhams.

The point is...What happened to Melissa and Allan?

I have recently (this past week in fact) had correspondence with Mellisa. The fact is that She and Allen sold the business to Christie Loflin last May 2009. They stayed on for a while but are now gone 100% from the company. Only time will tell if the integrity that they built into the business will remain under the new ownership.

"because it was time for them to move on" Hmm......

I don't see anything unusual about that. Someone buys a company from you, you may agree to stay on for a little while to help the transition, but rarely do you just hang around indefinitely.

The fact of the matter is that the toothbar and grapple bucket I just took delivery of was bought from Gator Attachments, who we now know has been owned and operated by Ms. Loflin for a year and a half. The fact that i had the pleasure of talking with Melissa Markham on the phone (and via email) while doing so really has no bearing on the quality or value of the product.

I do hope that the new owner maintains the personal level of service and great value that we'd all come to appreciate, but since this actually isn't a 'new development', i don't see any reason to fear otherwise.
