My Mahindra 4530 4x4

I live in the big hill territory. My 4530 easily handles all tasks except my belt 4x5 hay baler. The tractor is built solid and is a bargain for the price. I would recommend this tractor to anyone who looks to take care of a small farm. The only problem I've had is with the rear hydraulic valve which is being replaced under the two-year portion of my seven-year warranty.

Pros: Solid construction, reliable
Cons: Overheats under hard load

Good Tractor, Hard To Get Parts, Shifts Hard Between Gears

This is a good tractor overall and until recently I really would have highly recommended it. It's very heavy duty and the loader will work extremely hard. I like the fact that everything is pretty low-tech, meaning that you can work on a lot of things yourself because most everything is mechanical linkage. The bad part is when you do need it worked on they apparently bring parts from China on a row boat! Mine has always shifted hard between gears, the shuttle shift forward to reverse is fine and the high to low range is fine. It got stuck in 2nd gear and had to go to the shop. It's been in the shop nearly 3 weeks waiting on the gearbox cover gasket. It is supposed to be out tomorrow, but if you only have one tractor like I do this is a BIG negative!!

Well Built Heavy Duty Tractor For Its Size

So far, this tractor has done everything that I have wanted it to do, from moving gravel and dirt to piling brush and some light brush clearing. The lift capacity on the loader and the 3-point seem really strong. I am very pleased with everything about it.

Good Tractor

I haven't owned the tractor long enough to write much of a review. The fit and finish lacks a little but I'm picky. The brakes make some noise and grab some. Otherwise, everything else is good so far. I looked at Kubota, John Deere, and New Holland. Mahindra is considerably cheaper with better financing and warranty.

Pros: Tough, no frills tractor, good value
Cons: Fit and finish lacks a little.

I purchased my Mahindra 4530 about a year ago and have used it for everything from clean up after logging to pulling a 6'6" disc and it has not let me down. The tractor is built amazingly heavy and the loader can lift more that any other tractor its size. The FEL can be a bit slow but it is not horrible. The linkage for forward and reverse came apart but it was just a role pin that had to be put back in place. This is in a very difficult location to access so it took some time. The FEL controls leak and I have had a few other hydrolic leaks at fittings that tightening fixed. The breaks can be a bit noisy as well is the tractor its self is a bit loud when compared to my Kubota. But when compared to other tractors the price is amazing and the build quality is also great. One of my biggest selling points was the simplicity of the tractor, there are very few things to go wrong that I can not fix at home. So far I am a very happy Mahindra owner and would recommend it to any of my friends.

Pros: Price for size and weight of tractor
Cons: Small build issues like hydrolic leaks and role pin that came out.

Mahindra 4530 - The First 200 Hours

I had a clear idea of what I wanted in a tractor when I purchased this machine. Nothing automatic, nothing digital, visibly serviceable, and heavy-duty. The Mahindra 4530 met or exceeded all of my expectations. In addition to some very hard work---logging in difficult terrain, steep, forested hills, and muddy creeks at fifteen-below cold with 4 1/2 feet of snow---it never failed to perform. I've had no service or repair issues in the first 200 hours.

Pros: Well built, easily serviced, powerful, simple, good looking.
Cons: A larger toolbox would be nice.

One Tough Rig!

I've got a hill farm in middle TN only 10 or so acres are flat so this tractor has seen it all. From tilling with a 5 ft heavy duty 3 point tiller or pulling a 9 ft finishing mower to climbing wet slick rock up 40 degree hills it will and can do it all! No issues so far small drips here and there but I guess that's okay considering the value of this tank. It fully meets my needs period!

Pros: Value, heavy, looks and lifting ability.
Cons: None!

Very heavy all around farm tractor. I use it for hay farming, plowing fields, snow plowing, logging and general farm use. Excellent all around tractor. I also own a Kubota B2910.

Pros: Heavy full size tractor with true 4WD. Very strong FEL!
Cons: Lack of a traditional dip stick. Draft control is too short.

This tractor has been all I could ask for. It has been worked very hard, clearing trees and doing earthwork with the FEL. Also used for hay mowing and raking. Only issue so far is the engine hour gage quit working in cold weather.

Pros: Heaviest tractor in it's class; strong hydraulics.
Cons: Engine hour guage; 2nd gear sometimes tough to shift into.

Best Tractor for the Money
Model Year: 2012

Got this new tractor for $20,225.00 with the Front End Loader. All other tractors where $26,000.00 starting with less warranty (5 year). No complaints here. Great power and weight. Front end loader lift everything. I don't have any implements yet. But saving $6,000.00 in the purchase price, I will be able to afford them.

Pros: Power, weight, strong front end loader, and best price and warranty in the world.
Cons: None.

Kind of hard to give a honest review of this tractor as we have just put 50 hours on it. However here is what we have found so far. The tractor has done a good job at what we have done, pulls a 5 ft. Woods bush hog with no problem, a 12 ft. MM pick up disk pretty well and some light clearing with the front end loader, I have to admit that I am probably very biased about front loader as this is the first tractor we ever owned with one and I will never buy another without it! We love it! There are a few things I have found that bother me. The IPTO clutch---very important! If tractor is operated with IPTO disengaged for an extended period real damage can occur according to the manual, well The IPTO warning is a beeper which is hard to hear with motor running---maybe it's just me not hearing it. Wish it had a warning light. Kind of hard to get in to 4wd, I think this is a linkage problem as I think the lever is dragging on the floor plate and I have not checked it. Watch the exhaust turn out, I just noticed that the turn out will rub the hydraulic hoses on the right side of the loader frame if you carry the loader at a higher angle. I would like it to turn straight forward for clearance. Have not contacted dealer about warranty but I will as this seems to be a problem. Service parts seem to be a little pricey but I think this is because it's a new tractor and no after market parts are available that meet specification. Overall this tractor has done a good job and I would give it a good grade. The only reason I gave our dealer a kind of a low grade was that the tractor was delivered low on front axle lube and that made me wonder about other gear-boxes and delivery preparation, every thing else seemed to be fine. In his defense though I will say that the lube oil level changes with very slight angles, make sure it's level when inspecting. I will enter another review as hours increase and we know how this tractor performs. Thanks, Chan

Clutch Slippage

Had problem 2x with oil seal leaking oil on the clutch causing slippage.

Cons: Needs quick hookups on lift arms.

After 6 Months

Really like the tractor,would buy again. Strong hydraulics, very stable on hills.Front end loader is great! Dealer was very easy to deal with and up front with issues and addressed all of them.

Pros: Good value for the money, nice features.
Cons: Shifts hard in main gears, but is getting better, bucket is a little lightweight.

Outstanding Tractor

When I went shopping for a tractor, the best advice I got was buy the tractor new, get the implements used. The second best advice was to get a Mahindra tractor. I grew up running the old IH tractors in the 60s and 70s, and since the Mahindra Corp bought the old IH plant in India, they are pretty much the same tractor. My 4530 is the toughest tractor I have ever used. I use it for bushhogging, FEL work, etc. I just had it serviced at the 50 hour mark, and so far no problems whatsoever. It pulls unbelievably for it's size and it's weight helps in that regard. I have hilly terrain on my farm and I have been able to bushhog parts of it that I didn't think a tractor could get to without flipping thanks to this tractors wide stance and weight. I thought I would need the 4WD for this work but so far, not a problem in 2WD although the ag front tires do help a lot. This is the best tractor around for the price, and it will flat out outperform any of the big three tractor manufacturers HP for HP and beats them completely dollar for dollar.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing so far.

2010 Mahindra 4530

So far this has been a great tractor. I use it to brush hog and as a log skidder. I don't take it easy on it, it earns its keep. The only problem I've had with it was at 100hrs threads on the Tie rod and ball joint on the right side backed out of the power steering cylinder and messed up the threads, Which left me stuck in a field. It took about 3 months to get the parts in. My only problem with the tractor is the weight. It's only a problem cause 98% of the work it does is not at the house which means I'm hauling it everywhere. With the loader and 7' Landpride it weighs in around 8500lbs. When skidding logs however, I'm glad I've got the weight, just don't need it to brushhog. If you are needing a tractor to work the farm it's hard to beat, it is a boss. If you plan on hauling it all over it might not be the best choice. It pulls the 7' brushhog great, very rarely gets bogged down and mows over anything.

Pros: Built like a tank, a lot of tractor for the money.
Cons: Heavy, I know I'm in the minority listing this as a con.

I purchased this 4 wheel drive 42.5 HP tractor used with 228 hours on it. It came with, front end loader, root grapple,6 ft HD Bush Hog, 6 ft box blade, and 6 ft grade master, all for $14,000.The 2011 model with FOL sells for $20,800 (cash price) with no equipment. This tractor has no problem handling any of this equipment. The extra weight of this tractor helps put the power to the ground, especially in 4 wheel drive. The front end loader has more lift capability at 2950 lbs than the competition. The shuttle shift works groat with the front end loader.

Pros: Heavier than competition, Greater lift capacity. Great price. Parts avalibility
Cons: No remotes on new model. A $600 expense if added.

I Love It

I bought it for its lifting capacity as we are also using it as a forklift. It pics up more than spec'd - I'm impressed. I looked around a long time before picking this one.Its old school i love it.

I thought while I was on here I would comment on my 4530. I got it home from dealer. Front Axle almost 1/2 gallon low on 80w90. Differential pedal backwards and would not engage diff lock. Despite being in 2wd tractor, it was stuck in 4wd had to adjust lever over a half inch to get it to disengage. The front right wheel tie rod unscrewed from the hydraulic steering control arm. I have a short in the temp gauge and half the time it won't read temps. 1st and 2nd gear in low range are a bit hard to get into gear, but the 3rd and 4th just go right in. The hydraulics are a bit slow. The front end loader blocks lights. No place to chain the front of the tractor easily when hauling (don't have grill guard) have to chain on the loader. Other than that, it works great.

Pros: Engine sounds good, easy on & off, love the back end hookups and adjustments.
Cons: Dry brakes should have just got the 55 series instead of the 45. It has wet breaks and I think a bigger loader.

Mahindra 4530 4WD tractor with front end loader, 4 in one bucket

Good sturdy tractor, but had two negative experiences. First was one of the steering linkages coming undone, leaving one wheel unsteerable. Obtained new linkage but was very hard to screw in, needed special tools, required several trips to dealer, which is 40 minutes away. Second the connecting pin on top of the gearbox to do with changing forward to reverse direction broke. Could replace with bolt and nut, but was fiddly job. Apart from these two incidents that both left me stranded, the tractor has been OK.

Pros: Sturdy and heavy
Cons: Tow 'mission-critical' incidents

2006 Mahindra review

This is one of three tractors I work on the farm. Used mostly for hay cutting and hauling, and FEL work. Very happy with it so far. Starts in any weather, handles very well. It has been a real workhorse when clearing woods and brush. I have two main complaints. One, it has always had some issues going into second gear. It was modified with the Mahindra "upgrade" before I bought it, so that is not the problem. The second complaint is the fuel tank screen. This fine mesh screen becomes clogged after 50-60 hours of operation, and requires cleaning. The tank must be drained to accomplish this.

Pros: Heavy duty, runs well, handles well.
Cons: Second gear, fuel screen
