JD110 John Deere
Just Acquired It
Model Year: 2005

I just "inherited" this tractor with the purchase of our new old house. I haven't had much seat time yet, but it appears to run well and is built really well.

Pros: Build quality.
Cons: Didn't come with the three point hitch bars.

John Deere Model 110 Refuses to Die
Model Year: 1969

I've used this ancient tractor for pulling a small trailer over rugged terrain since 1980. This machine just refuses to give up. The tractor has an impressively strong frame and transmission coupled to a reliable Kohler 8hp single cylinder engine. It has faithfully pulled cargo along primitive roads since purchased used in 1980 with minimal maintenance. Present day machines are built with a fraction of the strength of this old warrior and would not likely be still providing reliable service after this much time. If you find one, buy it!

Pros: Durability, durability, durability.
Cons: No heated leather seats or air conditioning.

Good news: I love it; Bad news: My wife loves it too!
Model Year: 2003

I bought this machine used (I'm probably the 4th owner) as part of a 2 year plan to do some drainage work and new construction around my house. After 2 years, the plan was to sell it. It has performed better than I could have expected. My wife has discovered how easy it is to use, so now I'm stuck with the grunt work while she has all the fun! I think the idea of selling it after 2 years is dissolving as it is useful for so many things. I especially like the creep to position feature and the feather control both the backhoe spools & the foot pedal control give as well.

Pros: Powerful, quiet, creep-to-position, easy to operate.
Cons: Wife loves it too....I'm stuck with the shovel and rake.

I've had my 110 for almost 5 years now and I still love it. It got decent power both for pushing and lifting. I own a landscape contracting company, and we use it for everything from drainage ditches to loading trucks to moving pallets of materials. I have it equipped with both front and rear hydraulic aux. outlets, and run a 4 in 1 bucket in front, and use the rear outlets for the angle cylinder on my Harley rake. I also installed the thumbs on the backhoe, which gets used often. The machine has run without any MAJOR problems, but hasn't been perfect. With less than 100 hrs a seal blew out in the rockshaft control, and with about 550 hours a gasket on the transmission began to leak, which required the rear end being opened up. Currently the turn signal switch has stopped working, which killed my hazard lights too. That and the hydraulic quick-connect fitting for the backhoe need to be replaced because it seeps. Not big deals, but just annoyances. I'd still recommend the machine if Deere hadn't stopped production. It's a great balance between a tractor and a mini-excavator.

Pros: Reliable, good size for small to mid-size jobs.
Cons: Hydraulics can be a little finicky sometimes.

JD110 John Deere
Outstanding Backhoe
Model Year: 2003

I'm probably the 4th owner and previous history is unknown. I'm giving the machine and dealer 4 stars as I have no previous experience with this class of machine and it has 1700 hours so far. I've got about 100 hours on the machine and it has operated flawlessly. In fact, my wife who has no prior experience with backhoes was able to easily drive it and dig a 3' deep by 45' straight trench in clay/hard slab shale in under 2 hours. Machine has HD bucket and aux hydraulics on loader boom, quick attach 12" and 24" backhoe buckets with 7th valve for thumb etc.

Pros: Very good fuel economy, easy operation, strong hydraulics and creep-to-position.
Cons: My wife loves it....I do the manual labor now.

Beware of TLB 110
Model Year: 2008

This tractor is too small. The frame is too small--mine broke while simply moving dirt and gravel over level ground while driving slowly. The hydraulics are also poor and this tractor is not meant for a front end loader. The hydraulics heat up even when driving on the road in the winter with no load on it. BEWARE

Pros: The cost is reasonable.
Cons: It is not large enough to perform work.

Too Early To Tell
Model Year: 2005

I just bought this tractor 2 months ago. The tractor is well built and has plenty of power. The back-hoe has good power and good metering on the controls. The front bucket control seems stiff compared to my Kubota 7800, but I think I will get use to it. The bucket roll control seams to dump faster than it returns, even when empty. I am having an electrical problem that affects the fuel solinoid. John Deere has me replacing parts and they don't let me talk to the service tech's. So my problem gets relayed from sales person to tech and tech to sales person then back to me.That sucks.

Pros: Power.
Cons: Stiff bucket control.

Recent upgrade
Model Year: 2005

Just purchased the JD 110TLB to replace my old Ford 640. Absolutely no comparison between the two. I chose the 110 for the following reasons: Diesel, 4wd, power steering, hydrostatic trans, front end loader with skid steer compatibility, backhoe, 3 point hitch. I looked hard at several models of Kubota, since I have had a ZD21 mower for 5 years that I love. There just was not many used with all the capabilities of the JD110 in my budget. I found this one on Craigslist in Indiana. I have not regretted the 9 hour one-way drive to purchase it.

Pros: Diesel, 4wd, power steering, hydrostatic trans, skid steer compatibility.
Cons: None yet.

JD 110 TLB
Model Year: 2004

This tractor replaced a JD 2630 that was a bit tired. We have a very hilly farm and a 2wd tractor even w/calcium and chains was sometimes scary. The 110's 4wd/hydro system is much safer (I added calcium to rear tires which helped a lot). Removing the backhoe is easy once you do it a couple of times and I have it down to 5 minutes. I added the available belly pan which I consider mandatory when you use the tractor in wooded areas. Too many things under the tractor are vulnerable and my belly pan has deep scratches in it which proves the point. For snow work, especially on slopes you must install chains on all tires. Despite the high purchase price I feel the tractor is a great value.

Pros: Power/traction available, strong backhoe, easy to operate, creeper function great, engine access good.
Cons: Stability w/o backhoe and no calcium in rear tires. Weak loader bucket roll-back strength. Having to remove 3PH arms to install backhoe.

Great machine for commercial or homeowner use. The creep feature is second to none. I am a commercial user and have 2700+ hrs of use on this Tractor. There is not much I have come across that this Machine couldn't handle(with in reason).

Pros: creep feature, power, size, 4in1 bucket operation.
Cons: extremly loud hydraulic whine(ear protection a must), $10K for cab,
