JM-284 JInma
Burned out
Model Year: 2006

I own a Jimna 284 that has been nothing but trouble. Thought I had all the electrical problems worked out but now it seems that the horn relay is shorting out. How can I disconnect it? My tractor will not start. We have replaced the regulator, battery, regulator and alternator as to the suggestions of Keno tractor. While I'm at is, the horn shorted out so I fixed that then it had to go back to the dealer for clutch replacement with less than 50 hours, they hooked the horn up the way they thought it should be. Then I broke the front axle, now after replacing all those electrical parts the horn again. Any one else ever had this problem?

Pros: Looks nice and good price.
Cons: Lots of problems, looks are deceiving.

Good Unit
Model Year: 0

Bought this unit from a dealer in northern Colorado. Dealer was great at first not so much now. Unit has been good. I got the "shuttle shift" unit. If this is not right from the beginning you will fight it until you have to replace the shifter fork assembly. Hence if you by from a dealer "their" setup is important! This I know first hand, and one fork assembly later. Tractor is very easy to work on, even if your like me and not very mechanical. We have worked the heck out of this tractor--moving mountains of snow in the winter and it just keeps amazing us! I would recommend this tractor.

Pros: Easy to repair/maintain.
Cons: Dealer support.

My Blue
Model Year: 2003

Bought my Jinma as a crate tractor from dealer in Florida. shipped it to upstate NY where I picked it up. Took a few days to assemble it. Great fun. No major problems. Runs great I use it with the Jinma loader and a Jinma 6" capacity wood chipper. I keep it in the garage always ready to play. Also used it a lot for clearing snow last winter. Has 4 wheel drive and a lock up for the rear wheels, also I have turf tires. Not good in the mud but either am I.

Pros: PRICE. Many selections of transmission speeds.
Cons: Not American made.

Very happy with Jinma
Model Year: 2004

I studied many tractors before my purchase. I felt like I was taking a bit of a chance with a Jinma, but felt that I could fix any problems if they should arise. I don't abuse it, but I work it hard quite often. I drag a lot of muddy corrals and pile mounds of the muck 7 feet high. I've never gotten stuck. Twice, the tach stopped working for about 5 minutes but then came back on. (I'll check and clean connections later!) The only thing that has needed repair was a seal, which I replaced on the hydraulic ram for the bucket. (It had been installed poorly at the factory.) I'm still using the Chinese battery that came with the tractor! (Almost 6 years old!)

Pros: Very good deal for the money
Cons: The sheet metal and engine are not very refined, but who cares?

My Jinma
Model Year: 2008

Although I don't have many hours on the machine, it's been invaluable with weed control, and loading/unloading my 5th-wheel hitch and generator. I bought it to save my back, and it's done just that.

Pros: Price, ease of use, seemingly unlimited power.
Cons: Fit and finish somewhat lacking, no servicing dealers in my area.

Jinma 284 Review
Model Year: 2009

I purchased my Jinma 284 with a Coldwater loader from Jared at Gorilla Tractors in Federal Way, Wa After months and months of angst debating more$$ for a Kubota, or a used or the Jinma. I also read every forum comment I could find on issues. So far I could not be happier with my decision. One factor was the incredible effort Gorilla Tractor put into these unit before delivery - a thorough detailed checkout - repainting those items that tend to rust, tightening bolts, etc. I also have a Jinma 6' chipper that I use the heck out of, and a box scraper and filed mower. People also bad mouth the Coldwater loaders, but they are built well and work just fine.

Pros: Incredible value, great dealer, simple to maintain, runs and runs
Cons: fit and finish is mediocre
