Since nobody currently offers a ripper for my RK24, I decided to whip up my own.

:dance1::2cents:

Fabbed the ripper tooth Monday night. Fabbed the mount and welded everything up last night.
Have less than $150 in it.

Where did you get the DOM tubing for the mounting pins?

Looks great!

Thanks for the link. Turns out there's one near my daughter and I had no idea. Apparently I've been looking in all the wrong places for DOM tubing.

Nice!

I have a dumb question based on my digging up my first stump with my new to me backhoe- do you use a regular bucket to remove the dirt above the roots so you can get to them, then switch to the root ripper? Or is this for plants with shallow roots?

All of the above. A bucket is still usually needed to dig around the stump, but these smaller hoes just don't have the power to rip up the bigger stumps. The ripper acts to concentrate the force along a single edge to break bigger roots. Once the roots are broken, the stump and roots can be dug up with either the ripper or bucket, whatever works best. All depends on the situation.

Gave it a quick test last night on a Ø2" root out back. Snapped it like a wee toothpick. I'm out of stumps to rip out on my own property, but I have friends lined up that want some removed, so I'll have to wait to really test the ripper until I can get to their places.

Nice looking root ripper.

I made one not too long ago I really like it. I think it is a game changer for a small backhoe.
I have been clearing a fence line with mine.
The only item I have made I like better is the quick attach for my backhoe.

I'm assuming you mean for the bucket(s) and other attachments? I was thinking about making one as well, but didn't want to sacrifice the curl force.

Mine is similar to Bxpanded.
Backhoe Bucket Connector

I am sure it does reduce force but I don't notice it at all.
It allows me to switch between my buckets. I have made a 6" and a 16" bucket. I also have the OEM 10" bucket. very quick to switch between them.

Nice. Yeah, I have a 12" bucket, 9" bucket, and now the ripper. We'll see how long I put up without a quick attach (especially with the thumb sharing a pin). LOL

Snymat68: Very cool attachment and fabrication job.

Gofast : can you add more specitics to the BH quick connect? I have a Yanmar Gio 15 the a 18 & 12" bucket and thumb. A quick attach would make this much eiser and a ripper would be fantastic.

Thanks

Hi guys -
I have looked and asked a lot of manufacturers about a ripper for an Ansung BH860 = Branson BH86 backhoe. A lot of manufacturers are unable to check due to the current health scare. I had one fabricator give me a very high price to make one for me based on the approximate design that started this tread off.....

Anyone know where I can get an off-the-shelf root ripper that will fit this backhoe?

Thanks everyone!!
