John Deere x748 problem solved "help my x748 is driving me crazy"
Finally solved the dilemma with my x748 that was totally dead in the ignition area. Had to replace the whole dash panel as a ceramic capacitor on the main board had totally cooked and burned out...- chiefswood

Model Year: 2013
I like the 4x4 and power steering, but the engine has a serious lack of power. And it doesn't go as fast in reverse as my X500 despite adjusting the pedal all the way up. Time is money. Cleaning engine screens is a pain in the ass and the driveline grease fittings are nearly impossible to lubricate without an automotive type lift. It's a nice rig alright, but not worth the 13 grand I paid. I am starting to regret trading my X500. And drinks just as much fuel as a gas engine, about a gallon an hour.
Pros: 4x4, comfortable ride, tight steering radius, gauges, lights.
Cons: Fuel drinking, hard to maintain, slow reverse speed, expensive.

The tractor was one year old when I bought it with about 70 hours on it. I bought it because my JD 332 would slide away on the hills at my home resulting in a couple of roll overs. I decided I either had to have front wheel brakes or four wheel drive. The x748 sits on the hills like a rock. I also have a 46 inch blade for plowing snow. It amazes me how much it will push, and I have I believe a 60 inch cutting pan that also does an excellent job. I have never had a problem with it.
Pros: It will do any thing it was designed to do very well.
Cons: If I had a complaint it would be that the cutting pan raises so much dust. I usually cut with the early morning dew or after a light rain.
