F250 5.4 gas mileage

I bought a 04 F250 in oct. of 04.Its a standard cab,5.4,auto.a/c,snowplow package,trailer towing package,and 3.73 L.S. The best i ever got with it was 16.1 mpg,in the dead of summer,with no load.The worst i ever got was 12.5
in the dead of winter,with no load.This is driving back and forth to work,basically flat and straight roads with 1 stop both ways.I have done no mods. to this truck at all,but i think it is probably the most babied F250
in the country.I drive it like its going to break most of the time,just because
of the gas mileage.Seems the temp. has a lot to do with mileage.Your trucks a little heavier than mine cause of the extended cab.I have never had mine on a interstate so i dont know what increase in mileage that would make.
But hey,its not a 4 cly. Tacoma,these things do weigh quite a bit,and
lets face it ,there not really built for mileage.

My 1997 F150 had a 5.4 auto, regular cab 4x4. I'd get 12 or 13 mpg with a tailwind. Hugo Chavez loved me.

Last September I bought a 2004 F250 with the 6.0 diesel. [Something about the tractor made me want an oil burner BAD.] It is a regular cab 4x4 w/ 3.73 gears and the 5spd auto. It gets 17.5-19 MPG on my 100 mile a day commute.

It does make some difference on what kind of vehicle the 5.4 is installed in. I believe you loose a little on the F250 vs the F150 because of weight and the higher profile. The 4x4 seems to knock off a little more even though you don't engage the transfer case. Like I said originally, my F250 is in the 12 to 14 range (mostly closer to the 12) but I really haven't had it in any warm weather because I just got it in December.

I also have a 2004 E150 conversion van. It also has the 5.4 and it seems to run so much hotter. There is no drag and the throttle response is so much more than the F250. The mileage increases to 16 to 17mpg. I attribute this to the lighter weight and 2 wheel drive, the high profile is there so you still have the wind drag.

I have the open element K&N and the series 70 Flowmaster on the F250. The K&N seemed to give more performance than the muffler.

2006 Chevy 2500 HD duramax Allison 6 speed 4 wheel drive crew cab. 17.5 to 18.0 mpg driveing 75 and 80 unloaded. Of course it is not broke in yet so I just have to be satisfied with the MPG I am getting for a while longer yet.

97 f150 4x4 w/ 4.6l, 15 mpg at best, maybe 9-10 pulling a trailer. Otherwise, pretty good truck except my odometer quit working a few days ago. guess the truck will always have 136,798 miles!! Retiring it to permanent farm status soon anyway.

2004 chevy duramax has averaged 20.1 mpg over the last 52,000 miles since i put the diablo predator program on it i run it mostly in economy mode. this still increases hp by 60hp.

I've got a 2004 Chevy Siverado, full size half ton, 8' bed, two wheel drive with the 4.3L V-6 and the 4 speed auto. I'll get 16-17 mpg doing suburban driving, maybe 21-22 on the highway at 65. It's usually "empty" except for some boards or something, and I don't tow.

2005 F250 x-cab 4x4 w/ 5.4, Torqueshift, & 3.73 - avg. mpg unloaded = 11.8. Pulling a small trailer (3-4k) about dead on 10mpg and cannot imagine anyone pulling 10k with this truck even though it is rated as capable for more.

have a 98 Expedition 4 X 4, 373 gears and 1st version of the 5.4.

it gets about 12 -15 mpg, so I'd say you are in the ballpark as to what you can expect for mileage.
