Well, all this truck talk got me looking. There are some deals out there. I saw plenty of '06 20K mile trucks priced to move. Ended up buying new. Signed last night. Hope to pick it up in a week or so. Takes a few days to get the $ freed up, then registration before I can go get it. Still smiling though.
Any thoughts on bed liner vs spray on?

I had a drop in bedliner on the last truck, Line-X spray in on the one I have now. I prefer spray in, and although Line-X is pricey, compared to the other 2 available in my area (Rhino and Ameraguard), it is much higher quality and has a far better appearance. I opted for Line-X Xtra, which is color matched to the truck and contains Dupont Kevlar. Short box Dodge Ram 1500, under the rail, $720.

'Loose' or 'drop-in' bedliners will accelerate bed rust. I'd go with a spray on.

Is that a 1/2 ton ?

nice looking truck!! i have a Rhino in mine and it's been fine for me. i got mine on top of the rail, not over it like alot of people do. in other words, mine runs along the very top of the bed rail and doesnt lap over it. i was quite suprised that he got it straight as an arrow too! some fading, but for $50 i can buy that stuff you put on it(UV coat i think its called). cost for me was $450. i would have considered Line-X but the nearest dealer is 45 min away, compared to only 15 for the Rhino dealer.

I've had Line-X sprayed in my last two trucks. Works great, lasts and I would recommend it to anyone.

Nice truck. I was wondering if this wouldn't be a great time to buy. Is is a diesel? I hope you have someone else to pay for the fuel.

Did you ever notice that when guys get together they almost always get up to something that the ladies don't approve of? If the worst you did was buy a truck I don't see how anyone can complain.

I forgot to say that I have a drop in liner on my T-100. Dirt gets under it and there is some rusting. I met a commercial fisherman some years ago who had the bed fiberglassed. He said it was bullet proof.

There is a third alternative to the spray on/plastic (junk) bedliner, "Bedrug". I've had them all and presently have a spray in liner on my 05 Dodge 2500. Had the Bedrug in a previous Ford and liked it better. It's impervious to chemicals, fuel and grease, is tough and those times when you're in the bed on those knees, it sure isn't as punishing. If you decide you don't want it anymore, just remove it. I believe there are other brands of similiar liners, but none as tough as the Bedrug. I bought the one I had at JCWhitney and installed it myself. Great item and worth considering and I GUARANTEE it will be in my next truck (whenever that is).

I had a 1/2 ton ford with a drop in bed liner. The screws came loose after about 5 years and it rattled about some. When I sold the truck after 11 years, took out the liner and had a gander. ZERO rust and just scuffed paint. No dents or other damage. That's after 11 Wisconsin winters where they put down as much salt as snow ! In fact, the bed was the only part of the truck that wasn't rusted. Go figure.

Truck after that had the Line-x. I liked it better than the drop in as stuff stays where you put it.

Current truck has no liner and no coating.

It is, or at least what I consider a half ton. Its a F150 but has a 1760lb max payload.
