Saw a sample of bedrug today. Looks like a nice addition to a liner. Not sure it would be what I want as the only liner. Now thinking more of spray in. Any real difference between Rhino vs LineX? Dealer uses Rhino, sure would be easier to have it done by them. Price $500.

I have Line-X right now and just sold a truck that had Rhino Liner in it and the RTV900 I sold had Rhino Liner in it. Even though I have Line-X right now, I think that Rhino Liner is considerably better. As I mentioned earlier, the Line-X guys showed me with their gauge where my liner is far thicker than what is standard for them yet it isn't even close to half as thick as the Rhino Liners. Even if the Line-X is tough, it can't possibly offer the dent resistance as a thicker liner would. I won't go with Line-X again.

I am in the process of looking for a new truck, so I am watching this thread with interest. My Tacoma had the drop in liner... rough on knees, nothing stayed where it was put. Keep us posted on the BedRug and anything you find on the undermat. Thanks

We have two trucks currently with Rhino Liner, and had a previous truck with it. My Dad has had LineX in his for the last 8 years. The Rhino Liner appears to be softer but stuff doesn't slide around as much in the back. I think if someone was sliding pallets (or dragging) in and out of truck frequently the LineX (harder surface) would be better. They both will fade somewhat. The Rhino Liner does look dirty in my truck towards the front of the bed from rain water running forward. This doesn't bother me, but may be an issue to some. They both seem to hold up fine.

I have had drop in liners on the last two trucks. A 1995 Chevy and the current Ford 2002. The Ford has a mat under the liner to stop it from scratching the paint. Have no idea if it works or not since I have never taken out the liner. My liner snaps in under the rails so no screws. There are some screws holding the liner to the tail gate but no problems.

I don't understand the knee issue since I don't crawl around in the truck bed. Are people doing this because they have a bed cap?

For me the biggest issue with liners and spray is with the liner stuff will slide around. The sprayon's limit/prevent movement.

For the most part I like the stuff sliding around. I have 2x4s setup in the bed to limit movement for my normal load of stuff I carry. The liner really helps out when its time to off load stuff. I brought in 10-20 yards of mulch this spring and it was sure easy getting it to slide out. The same is true for wood and other stuff I haul. The downside is if I'm hauling lumber that has to be carried with the tailgate down. I carry rope and just tie the stuff down. Never had a problem with wood.

Now that pallet full of pavers that slid when I had to slam on the brakes is another story. I did not think it NEEDED to be tied down. It was too heavy to move.....

I was wrong on that one.:D If I had tied it down like I should have it would not have been a problem. And off loading the slickness of the bed liner helped.

So which is better for what you do, stuff that slides or stuff that sticks. :D

Later,
Dan

I am not sure how long you plan on keeping the truck, but I pretty much drive them out, last truck was a 1999 with a drop in liner. I hated the liner from day one and during the trucks life I had to purchase a few sets of the retaining pieces to keep it held in place. Also had a problem with the tailgate plastic cover coming loose several times.

So I wasn't looking forward to a drop in liner for the new truck. The gang in Manchester went ahead and included the Rhino liner. I really like it and the people that did the spray in did a great job masking off the truck, making sure the drain holes were cleaned out and the over all look of the finish job is really good.

Looks pretty good and if you wish I can stop by and you can look at it and see what you think.

Sweet truck. I really like the new Fords and have seen them take some serious punishement without any problems. Keep it maintained and she'll run for a long time.

As far as the bed liner, I have a truck now that has a spray in liner. It was on it when I bought the truck and there was no documentation from the dealer, so I do not know the manufacture. The liner has done a fair job at protecting the bed, but not from sharp impacts or heavy objects like a drop in liner. In spots that have dented due to impact, the liner has started to break and peel away. I've tried to repair it with various materials (including the do-it-yourself liner materials), but it hasn't worked.

Another thing about my spray in liner is that things that you don't want to slide, will slide. Heavy things that you need to slide, won't.

The quality of the name branded and warrantied liners must be much better than the one I have, so if you go that route, make sure you use the quality products.

Thanks, Wayne! I may take you up on that. I did get a call back from the local Rhino guy. Two versions, not much $ difference.
We've discussed it a bit at home, drop ins are 1/3 - 1/2 the cost. The paintsaver mat is only $20, a bargain if it works. The better drop in unit has a non skid surface for $249, the basic one is $149. Guess which way she wants to go. I like the idea of the better Rhino liner. He told me it was 1/4" thick. I may try to get her to take a ride Saturday to look at everything. She'll most likely end up driving it more than me. The Line-X one I saw looked real nice.

Alan, I did try out a Tundra, I just couldn't, I've always had Fords! Dale T. would understand! :D:D:D:D
I did like the Tunda though. Now is the time to buy, it seems. There are some deals out there. I'm getting mine in Mass. The deal was too good & I got sick of looking right away. I went to the local dealer & was upfront with them. Here's what I'm getting & here's the number. I asked if I should cancel the deal & buy there. They said there must be a mistake & were $1500 more. Oh well, maybe I actually got a great deal. I think I did anyway. I'll pick it up next week.
