Yeah - you might want to start shopping.

Do you have a gooseneck?

I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't even take my 3720 (Cab) on a 7000# trailer.
My 10,000 Peaque weighs 2200lbs.

My 3720 is about 3600+800lbs(loaded Tires) + 1100lbs loader frame + 350? for the bucket so I'd be over without even a ballast block.

I do not have a gooseneck yet. I have thought about it.

The 7K trailer has a wood deck. I am looking at a 22+3 14k gooseneck right now.

Cool deal. I have the Big Tex 12GP. I wanted the 14GP, but I could not wait for it to come in. It has been a good trailer. I have have it 3 yrs or so. I bought it when I got my 4720 tractor. I used it a lot.

Do you all think I would need to go gooseneck or would I be ok with a 14K bumper pull on the Chevy 3/4HD 4x4 with 350 engine??

I would like a gooseneck but right now my truck would be the only one around the farm with a ball after I have to spend the money on one. I understand the benefits but is it necessary in my situation??

JD 4120, 400x with 73HD bucket, rotary cutter (longest and heaviest implement)

John, I think it's do'able with the appropriate ball hitch. I tow my 31' travel trailer (9000lbs) dual axle with brakes on a ball hitch, and the 2520 (5000lbs) on the smaller utility trailer. I think as long as you have an appropriately sized trailer, with at least dual axles to reduce tongue weight, and brakes on all axles you should be ok. The only difference between your 2500 and mine is a diesel engine. I do believe that you should also have a class V frame mounted hitch, not a bumper hitch. Best, Craig

You should be fine with a bumper pull. In many ways bumper pulls are nicer - you don't loose the bed space. Now, I prefer the handling, etc of gooseneck trailers.

I am looking into a new 14k trailer now for the 4120. Should I get the 2 5/16 ball coupler or a pintle hitch?? My feelings on a pintle that it would be easier for someone to steal???

What do you all think about this??

If I get the pintle is it possible to get a weight distro/sway bar hitch?? Or would this require a ball hitch??
