Canadian Pricing?

Any Canadian buyers here happen to know whether MSRP numbers quoted on the Deere site are anywhere near Canadian prices these days? I'm debating putting money into some fairly expensive repairs on my 1992 LX178 or convincing myself that it's time to upgrade. I'm looking at the X520 or X540 since I want liquid cooled again for starters, plus more robustness all the way around.

All feedback is most appreciated. The LX178 has developed an oil leak at the exhaust manifold on 1 cylinder, the parking brake/idler assembly for the drive belt has failed and the drive belt itself is done. Not being an engine tech or having a proper means to get the tractor into a position to work under it I'm guessing this might easily break the $500-600 range in repairs, maybe well more than that, for a tractor that's probably only worth $500 when running.

It is all up to your dealer I guess. I'm currently looking into a JD2320 or JD2520 incl. Loader, MidMountMower and Backhoe. So a lot more tractor then you are are looking for. But I have received a written quote from my dealer and this will for sure prevent me from buying a John Deere.

The total quote for the JD2320 is $ 26,500.00 already incl. a $575.00 Discount and for the JD2520 it is $29,000.00 incl. a $725.00 Discount. Sales Tax comes on top of that as well.

At a local fair the Kubota dealer had a BX24 TLB without midmount mower for for $16,995 CAD. I think these are similar sized tractors. You may want to get a quote from a kubota dealer.

In fairness, for comparative purposes, the BX24 TLB and the JD2305 TLB would probably be a closer match than JD 2320 or JD 2520. Also in that range the MF GC2310 might be worth a look.

Wow, you guys took me from an X500 series to $16k in one message!

Anyway, the new 540 is being delivered in the morning from my friendly local JD Dealer.

Congratulations on the new X540. I should have bought one of those in the first place. It would have been a lot less expensive than my loaded up JD 3320

After about 8 hours on the clock in the last 2 weeks the X540 is certainly one sweet machine. Whether or not I *needed* power steering on a lawn tractor I don't know, but the cutting time from my LX-178 is down by at least 35% simply because of the deck size. My local dealer didn't have an X520 and made me a deal on the 540, so I ended up with the extras at little cost to me.

I'll be adding the 14 bushel bagger in the next few weeks as the leaves begin to fall.

You are going to love and hate that bagger. It does a great job, but you will doing a lot of work.,

I am about to go our and bag my jungle of a yard.

Love and hate it for what reason - filling up too quickly or getting clogged or...? I had the 2 bag non-blower version on the 178 and it was easy to plug with grass. I opted for the 3 bag simply for capacity. I could fill the 2 bag in one circuit around part of my lawn with the old machine.

One of the guys from the dealership mentioned that some owners leave the left-side mulching blade on and change the middle and right side to the regular lift blade. They find there's not enough air movement to clean the left side of the cut path with the bagger and 3 regular blades. I'll experiment with that, but not having enough vacuum effect with the 54" (or larger) deck does sound logical. Any feedback on that?
