That's right at 5k more than my 05 purchase of a 5203 2Wd with 512 loader. I would pay the extra 5 in a heartbeat. The fed has also managed to inflate our dollar substantially n 3 years so my 2 bits is to get rid of the money and get yourself a tractor. Your 23,000 won't be worth 23,000 for long anyhow the way we are going.

I wonder if buying one assembled in America would be cheaper?

have the 5x03s gone up more due to being made in India?

0% financing... wouldn't that mean you can use JD's money? Leave your saving's in the bank.

Depending upon how much of a monthly payment you're comfortable with - you can "tailor" that payment amount by paying down the purchase up front with a portion of your saving's.

If you wait on the FEL and buy it as a single item - you won't have as much "leverage" with the dealer as you do as part of a "package deal". IMO, a tractor without a loader is like a tractor without a 3pt...

And you can color me skeptical; 'cause I don't see things getting any cheaper, either!

well that's the thing. i have the money for the tractor, disk, and bush hog. or the tractor and loader, but no implements. wish i had the money right now for all, but i dont and still keep the payment around what i am comfortable with. i mean, yeah i could do a $700 payment, but i also like to eat, put gas in my truck, and dont feel like sitting at home for the next 4 years. i doubt he will come off much on the implements because he kinda shocked me with the price of the tractor he gave me. although, i noticed they raised the price of the loader by $500 too. i just have to wait until tomorrow or tuesday to see what he will give me for my trade in.

I hear ya... Eating is one recreation that I most certainly enjoy and sittin' home for 4 years wouldn't be high on my "to-do list"!!

But... the FEL is one implement that I wouldn't buy "off brand" - IMO. I'd want the model that comes with the tractor!

Now, the disk and the brush hog... well, there are lot's of good used ones around and the major manufacturers are all "eyeball to eyeball" with one another on quality, so an older IH disk or JD disk or Bush hog or Landpride rotary cutter. Well, I'd probably be settling on a good used model disk and bush hog. And I'd be goin' to the farm/equipment auctions that are comin' up this fall and winter and lookin' for a good deal.

My $0.02

I'm with AKfish on this one and, in fact, employed that same strategy. I figured that the loader was more of an integral part and should be setup with the tractor from the beginning. I have since been scrounging Craigslist for good used implements. So far I've picked up a 6' Frontier rotary cutter and 7.5' KK disc harrow for really reasonable prices.

Good luck shopping!

Mikey,
That's a nice rig you got there. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

I think your dealer got a little greedy putting stickers on both the loader and the tractor. It's a trivial point but it seems kind of ornery to me.

Your boss seems a bit "altitude challenged" like mine. I'm not sure the seat adjusts far enough forward for mine to reach the pedals.

I also went and "got 'er done" today. after much debate and going back and forth with wants vs. immediate needs, i went with a 5203 MFWD and an MX6. didn't get a loader, but the joystick and svc's are there for when i get one in the future. it was either get the bush hog or the fel for right now, so i had to go with the MX6. my old bush hog wasn't going to do me any good with my new tractor, so I'll have to try to sell it since the dealer only wants my tractor, not the bush hog or the disk. dealer sold me a brand new MX6 for $2,200. I had been pricing them around $2,400-2,500 so I figured that wasnt so bad. got the tractor and MX6 for $17,200. got $4,000 for my tractor, and i was never offered anywhere close to that by anyone else. i was floored when he told me that price. i knew i'd have a hard time selling it for that, and would probably have to throw in my implements too. i still have my implements, and can sell them seperately. all in all it seemed like a good deal. 0%/48 months ain't so bad either. he's bringing it in the morning so i'll try to get up a few pictures for ya'll. congrats on your tractor too mikey! is that a 5103 or a 5203?

your price was about $900-1,000 less then what my dealer wanted for the 5203 with 522 fel. so congrats to you for that! my dealer only had one 5203 left on his lot, so i thought he might want to deal a little bit better. i was wrong. i didn't get a bad price, but others on here have done better it seems. bush hogging and disking are 90% of what my tractors will spend their lives doing, so the fel was more of a want vs need. i've gotten by without one this long, so a little while longer ain't gonna kill me i don't think. at least i got the svc's and joystick, so all i have to do is go back and get the loader and grill guard. for the work i do, i need a good bush hog, and a heavy disk so those were my main priorities. wanted a Bush Hog 296, but he didn't have one and knocked off a couple hundred from the MX6 which i HOPE is just as good of a cutter. guess he could tell the MX6 was not my first choice, so he felt the need to make me feel somewhat better about it. i still wanted the 296 though. he made it seem as if Deere was going to make me finance the Bush Hog 296 seperate from the tractor had they even had one on their lot. he mentioned how Deere was changing their financing for "competing brands". something about if you buy a JD tractor and say a Bush Hog box blade, you have to finance the two seperate now instead of all in one. guess theyre REALLY trying to push the JD/Frontier line.

did you get the JD insurance or are you carrying a seperate policy? i went with JD.
