I'm finally upgrading my 2310 to a 1533 I think. The dealer is dropping me of a 1533 for the labor day weekend to try out for size. Provided I like it his price is $21,500 with QA bucket, and HST. Does that seem high?

I'm trading in my 2310 and that will be about even with what I owe on it so I figure that's a wash. Any thoughts?

I am looking at doing the same thing, Mike. I have a GC2310 with only 74 hours on it. I talked with my local dealer in Hermon, ME, and he said I would be better off to sell my tractor outright and then come see him to buy the bigger tractor. I am trying to sell it for around $14,000.00 and have a guy who is supposed to come see it today but I have not heard from him so it may not happen.

I am not sure how much bigger I want to go and my dealer threw out so many prices my head was spinning when I left. Is that price just for the tractor and FEL? If so, that does seem a bit high to me. My dealer has a 1540 (not HST) w/FEL for $22,450.00 he would sell it to me for $21,450.00.

*Some things to think about before going bigger.

*1*Something that can sneak up on you is finding yourself with to big a tractor after getting the work cough up if you go with a bigger tractor than a Sub cut.
2*I'm almost done with all the work on my place and have been concerned with am I going to run out of things to do with the tractor shortly.
3*The other day that caused me to realize and be thankful I won't have a Big B or L or M Sized Tractor setting around here doing little or nothing.
4*I think the extra ground clearance is overplayed by many posters. A tractor with a 10" ground clearance can't clear 14 inches either.
5*A bigger tractor means it can't get to places a Sub-Compact can.
It is more expensive to operate and maintain.
Tires oil and fluid changes cost more.
Hauling a larger tractor is more expensive and it requires a larger more expensive trailer.
This will require feeding the tow vehicle more of todays expensive fuel to tow the heavier tractor and trailer.
On top of that you will be feeding the large thirster tractor more of that expensive fuel also.

Points well taken. I need to decide what to do because I have a 21 acre piece of land that is mostly field and some woods. My little 2310 does a great job but it is just not big enough to do all that I need to do. I am in the midst of getting ready to build a new house on the land and eventually would like to hay the field to feed to our horses. The thought had crossed my mind to keep my 2310 and buy a larger used tractor and some hay equipment next year. I won稚 need the larger tractor until then so that is a possibility. If I had my way, I would have a whole stable full of tractors instead of a stable full of horses. They sure are easier to clean up after.

Thats yer answer:
Get rid of the horses not the GC2310.;)

~~~~~I wouldn't mind having a Kubota B 2410 or B 7610 but not at the cost of giving up my BX23.~~~~~
I went up from 2310 to a 1531,not as drastic as going to the 1533. The engines aren't much different until you get to the four cylinder class. I tow with same rig,because I went up 2000 lbs. from 2310. I can tow 30 miles to some work,so didn't want much bigger. The length and ballast makes the bigger machine easier to pull stumps,control of backhoe is better because the bigger machine has two swing pistons, unlike one piston on the 2310. It also has a larger loader and front axle is rated heavier. The transmission has a lower first gear and more speeds then the 2310. The disadvantage is buying tires, other things are going to cost more then smaller machine. I notice I have the Titan Trac loader tires and front are showing some wear compared to turf tires on the 2310, but the bigger machine is moving more material. The ride is better on big machine. I did have a situation when I had the 2310, a friend borrowed it for a tight job around obstacles in trailer park between,fence,shed,tree,mobile home because his larger machine got hung up. The bigger machine shouldn't wear out as bad because you aren't pushing it harder to do the same work. I only wish I had a deeper digging depth at times,my machine can't dig far enough down for test pits. plowking
The horses actually belong to my wife and don't think I am above using that as leverage to justify buying new tractor stuff...
Backhoe....Horses. I think I get it. My wife,daughters got nervous when I got backhoe. Horses now live down the street. Get out the tape measure and measure the horse,then measure your backhoe. Wife should get it,just plan on living on couch for awhile. I have a funny story,well not that funny. Years ago, my father in law drove his pickup over the grave of a horse buried in winter in the back field,the thaw caused hole to collapse and truck fell in it. Also heard of a horse buried with the legs sticking up, that wasn't a good idea. plowking
The 1540 is suppose to be a nice tractor, it has a turbo according to the chart. plowking
I almost did a trade up from a 2310 to a 1532 but, reality set in and I do not need a bigger tractor. I can do anything I need to do with the 2310 and the bigger one would not fit in allot of the places I need to go. I seem to think that the bigger the tractor the more "new" :eek:friends you will accumulate to "help":mad: them with their tasks. It is amazing how many people know me now that I have had my 2310 for 9 months:rolleyes:. I do love the 1533, that's a sweet machine and if you do decide to trade I think you will be very satisfied. :D
