OK : I took my lumps.
Now how about telling Sound Guy the same thing about this post.

Sir, you post in everyplace, and you post the same stuff in 4-5 places. I am sorry, but it gets old. I am not the only person who feels this way as there have been many other people who have asked you why you act the way you do here and you do not respond.

I don't always agree with Lbrown.. ( maybee only occasionally?? ) but I think your message was hostile and uncalledfor.

You are around here a ton and see what he does. The same post might be in 4-5 places. Come on, the guy has to get a grip. He sure is not gaining respect around here, nor is he going to get a treat for his high post count. I just want to know what the guys deal is, thats all.

Called the JD parts man yesterday. Needed a filter for the 2320. Said he was coming through my town and could bring it to me to save me a trip. I know they are not all that way, but one reason I am green and yellow right now.

Rational thinking rarely gets you anywhere on this board. "Submit to the Borg now and avoid the pain"

The whole JD thing is fascinating. I've still got an old JD two cylinder thumper (530 w/loader) that is a keeper. I recently started looking for a new chore tractor and after trying hard to interest myself in the modern JDs I ended up with a Kubota M59. To my consternation it simply works better and is more operator friendly than any new JD I tried....but the old JD is still the one that everyone heads for when they wander out to the barn to look at tractors. Even little kids want to sit on the JD. People admire the M59, but they do it while they are leaning on the JD with one arm flung over the tire like it was the embrace of a friend. I don't even think they know they are doing it.

I think that people look at John Deere as an icon of the beginning. The first john deere plows date back to the 1840's...

Although kubota has been arouond in Japan since 1890, they did not have a presence in the US until the 1970's. People don't relate to it.

Its the same way with harley davidsons. How many people spend the extra dollar to buy the name. The quality and the technology do not match the imports, but more and more people spend to drive them, and they are looked at just like people look at john deere.

In my area, there are many red tractors, and many folks look at Internation the same as Deere, if not better.

I am happy that people want to spend the money on American products, i just with that the constuction of these so called American products was actually American.

*If I was going to buy a motorcycle it wouldn't be a Harley Davidson.
I guess I've just never been much into fads or the follow the crowd thing.

Are you saying he is duplicating posts? I've not seen an overabundance of duped posts.. it does happen now and again though... If inadverdent.. it's nothing to get worked up about.

In any case..a s I said.. I don't see eye to eye with lbrown alot.. but.. it's another thing to outright insult somebody here.

remember the terms of use... try to play nice.. if you don't like his posts.. put him on your ignore list and then you won't see his posts...

I always find these discussions interesting. Granted, some may be Lemmings that buy into the marketing hype - some see what all the Jones' have and follow suit - some buy the opposite to snub the Jone's - and some just follow tradition based on what they grew up around. But what I find funny is the "fan" aspect that comes into play. Whether it be sports team, tractor/car maker, politician, religion, whatever - it is like there is complete denial that the choice has any downsides or the competitor might be better. I assume it has always been this way, but it seems more prevalent nowadays, maybe cause I'm older, I don't know. It is really evident in political discussions to the point I won't even engage.

I don't consider myself immune - I've supported the same NFL team since I was six - and get my feathers ruffled if I hear disparaging remarks. And I get offended and defensive if I hear people bashing my tractor or truck or car choice. The denial aspect is the key IMHO. I get ruffled, but then calm down and think objectively and can ackowledge the good and bad points.

On the whole - I am terrible about brand loyality - all of my vehicles have always been domestic. It is my preference to by American, but it also happens that the domestics are usually cheaper. And generally I like the look better. But I stop there - I currently have 3 Fords (95 F350, 03 Expedition, and 07 Mustang), a Dodge (03 RAM 2500) and a Chevy (05 Cobalt for commuting) in the driveway. That ratio of one make to the others has changed over the years depending on my "needs"

When I was tractor shopping, after much online research, I was at the county fair - JD and Bota models side-by-side. Sat on and played a bit on both. I was more taken with the Bota from the start, but was still thinking JD to show my patriotism and blend in with the green and yellow in my neighborhood (all lawn tractors I should add). But when I found out the JD SCUT was $3K more, I had my mind made up right then and there. I knew they were more than Kubota and MF based on my research - but I wasn't impressed that it had that much more to offer for the 3K after test driving it.

So I may have "wanted" a JD initially - but haven't even thought about it since. I sure as h*ll didn't compromise - bought what seemed to be the better tractor (to me) and saved $3K. But my next tractor purchase - all bets are again off.
