I am in need of some steering parts for a 1979 Kubota B7100. I have checked new prices and can't afford those to be completely honest. I was curious if anyone out there has, or knows where, to get good used parts? I am in need of a complete nut ball or a complete steering assembly. Thanks for any help.

Good luck, steering issues are real common. If I had to do mine all over again I would go custom power steering... of course that would cost quite a bit more than OEM manual steering parts.

Common and pricey. I checked and the old parts number was $245 or so but they have substituted a new parts number for it and it went to nearly $700! I couldn't believe it. Kinda juggling my options right now on what to do.

I would say it's a good time to upgrade to power steering like robbio11 did on his B7100
It's a great mod and could be done for much less than the price of the parts you are looking at.

Is that for the whole thing? I paid around $165 for the nut ball assembly about a year ago.

Yeah, that is for the whole steering assembly. I believe it was $645. They have substituted some parts numbers and now they are much more pricey. So, a year ago, you probably did get the part for $165, but now it will cost you much more.

Can you post a photo of the nut ball assembly? I am curious if you couldnt have one made for a fraction of the costs you are talking about???

It would be a pretty tricky part to build. The 'nut ball assembly' is the block and the shaft. You need both of these pieces as there are bearings in there and when it goes both parts get damaged.

I ran into an issue when buying mine, it appeared when switching to a new part number system the 'new' part number referred to a part that was not correct for the b7100. Took a few weeks for things to get straightened out. When I received the part it looked like the shaft may have been cut and re-welded a little above the worm gear section.... like it might have been shortened from another part. Maybe it is just part of the manufacturing process but the old one didn't look like that.

If I could sell my whole assembly on ebay for $600 it would just about cover the cost of putting in custom power steering  ;)
