B7100 fan quit spinning

the belt was riding around the fun pulley but the pulley/fan wasn't spinning. I assume the fan clutch or bearing is seized.

is it a bearing or a clutch?
and is that just a order it from Kubota deal or am is there a simpler method?

Chances are it is the dynamo that is seized. There is no clutch

The dynamo is Kubotas terminology for alternator.

I have changed mine out for the same reason you probably have to change yours out. That means it's not very complicated.

If you do it yourself take the hood off, remove the rads and its real easy. There will be one bolt that is hard to access. My toolbox contains a bent combination wrench that will fit. Others have used one of the ratcheting box end wrenches with success.

The replacement dynamo will not be cheap.

You may be able to take the dynamo to a shop and have it rebuilt at a lower cost??

Now I am assuming it will be a seized dynamo. My trouble shooting skills are limited.

doing a search i see guys mentioning that you can run the tractor on just the battery for quite some time.

since the B7100 doesn't have a water pump i don't have to worry about that - so does this mean i could finish my plowing/planting i was doing when the belt broke?

what all requires battery to operate once the tractor is started? is the fuel pump electrical in nature?

The fan has to be turning to keep the engine coolant cool and the hydro coolant cool.

You could run for quite a while on the battery or just boost as required.

I should have mentioned that the little bronze, on mine, round thing is the dynamo.

crap, i forgot about that. looks like they're only $150, so no big deal, except time.

out of curiosity - does the fuel pump or anything use electricity once it's started?

wondering how long it'd run if i could free the fan up and the battery was fully charged? a few hours?

Chances are it is the bearing in the dynamo that has seized up. It may be possible to get it loosened up.

As for the rest the only thing 12 volts is required for is starting. Everything else is mechanical. Once running it should go till it runs out of fuel.

That is a good time to check the bottom of the tank for debris!
