You may be able to angle the backhoe hoe bucket off to one side and shorten the overall length of the tractor. Not sure if you would gain enough to fit the 14' ?

Yeah, if you pulled the backhoe bucket fully sideways you can save about 2 1/2 feet, but it gets 1 1/2" foot wider so you would have to park very crooked to get it to fit a 14 x 7 ft. trailer.

Dual axle trailers are much more stable when functioning normally as well.

Try a BX25 on a 10foot trailer.

I think there are a couple more questions to ask...1)just how good is the deal on the 14' trailer, and 2) how much do you actually trailer the tractor.

I tow mine maybe twice a year. I built my 14' knowing I would have some things hanging off the back. But if I made it 16' or 18' all it would mean is the cost would have gone up and the tail wheel of the RC would be on the trailer. Not worth it IMO. If I had a FEL, I would do like 99% of the other folks in Texas do, lift it up and keep it above the pickup bed and move the tractor forward more if needed. The deck on my trailer is also 7.5 wide so I have some extra room up top.

I have an old horse trailer I am thinking of cutting the top off and adding to the length to haul my BX. It would keep the center of gravity low and it is duel axl.

I would keep the top on if the BX will fit under it. No worry about the COG because a couple horses or bulls can out weight or be near a bx in weight. And if you lenghten it, be aware of the geometry of the trailer. A standard utility trailer will have the center of the dual axles at about 60/40 to the deck lenght. Put to much weight behind the axle and that trailer will do some serious wagging!

But a covered trailer would be high on the cool list!!

I did think of the wagging affect, but I think I should be able to add 24 to 30 inches do to the fact that the way the horse trailer is made. The wheels are all the way to the back now. And I would like to keep the top on but the rot is all above the fenders and I would still have to take out the center support anyway.

I haul my BX 23 with a 6*10 single axle trailer and it fits great. I raise the bucket up and drive the tractor to the front of the trailer and tie down the front axle to the front of the trailer. The backhoe comes to rest on the back edge of the trailer. The trailer is rated for about 3500#. I don't understand why some think you need a 7000# trailer to haul 2800# tractor. I've driven from Southern Arizona to Colorado and never had a moment where I thought the trailer was inadequate. If you have a bigger trailer, that's great, but a 6*10 works well.

I think you are right about that horse trailer and the wheels. I forgot to mention my BIL's...brother has a trailer build for his old L175. He hauled horses and the tractor (not at the same time!! ). No ROPS on the mid 70's L and the trailers top had a tube frame and canvas top.

Amen!! Not to mention 10,000# 20' trailers for a BX. Must spend more time hauling the tractor than driving it!
