Lindy:

That is beautiful soil.

Here in the south I spray Garlon 4 (triclopyr) for briars and other broadleaf weeds. It doesn't hurt most grasses, but when applied in the fall it kills most blackberry vines, briars, and tree seedlings. I think Remedy and Crossbow have the same active ingredient. I use it to keep the underbrush controlled in hardwood groves. It kills the small hardwood seedlings, but that is okay.

Just checking back in. After about 8 or 9 days, the grass started dying. It really looked dead after about 12 days. I mixed my generic roundup at about 3 oz. per gallon and used a pull behind 30 gallon sprayer from TSC. I mixed up a total of 20 gallons. It did the trick. I just bought a used JD 550 tiller so I'll be going over it next weekend. Then I'll till it again in the Spring.

try the generic stuff - glyphosate - its less expensive on e bay

mix 4 qts with 25 gallons water and 4 oz of 24D, spray when its hot and the veg is growing. In a couple of days it will fall down. one application usually works. i am spraying quarter mile of driveway/road.

this mix kills everything

Lindy, how dose your 3030 Kubota handle the weight of your overseeder. I have a friend who has the same overseeder as you on a 4110 John Deere and said it is very heavy on it. Even with weights he says the front end wants to come off of the ground. He has no loader on his tractor. I have a B2630 Kubota with a front end loader and he tried to sell the overseeder to me but I just thought it would be to heavy so I was considering a woods super turf renovator. After seeing your pics I thought I would ask. Thanks in advance for any info.

Yes, it's plenty heavy for the B3030. I never even tried lifting the overseeder without the loader on the front because I knew from the specs on the Kubota that I was pushing it a bit. I wound up bending the 3pt a little bit somehow while I was using it (probably backed into a mound of dirt too hard). Had to replace one of the telescoping lower links because of it, and some of the other parts might have gotten sprung a little bit. Also, I think LandPride recommends 25 pto HP for this unit, and the B3030 has only 23.

That being said, I think it's ok, weight-wise, on the B3030 if you're careful.

As far as having enough power to run the knives off the pto -- again I think it will be ok. Most of my seeding this fall was primary -- into already prepped soil. The tractor seemed to have to work a lot harder when I ran it in a small patch of existing grass. It was just a matter of slowing down, and/or lifting the 3pt arms a bit so the knives didn't cut as deep.

So yea, it's kinda heavy for this tractor, but I think it's ok if you're careful. If you can get a good deal OS1548, I'd go for it. Just be gentle with it.
