I give up.
The test cited is the most thorough test anyone has done that isn't biased by a manufacturers input.
If anyone does better I'd like to see it, until then.......
I give up.
We're peers, aren't we?but publish something like this on a non-peer reviewed web page and people think it is the holy grail
Currently, we're running 500 PPM Off-Road diesel in our pre-'07 backhoe/CUT's/Gator, etc... Do I need one of those additives, or only if/when running ULSD.
How about in our pre-'07 on road trucks, which ARE using ULSD?![]()
Well I definitely feel the need for some snake oil.
98 Cummins 24V, Bosch VP44 injector pump. 200K miles prior to USDL with no issues. At 215K replaced the first injector pump and now at 238K ready to replace another.
Note: The standard requires the lubricity to be corrected by the supplier, however, this typically isn't at the refinery but the local or regional distributor. I've always been curious if some distributors haven't been short sheeting the bed here![]()
"I give up"
Glad to hear it. Nobody stated anything about optimum mixtures, perfection, operational plateaus, etc. The study that you care so little about compared the label rate of many additives and a known concentration of cheap 2 cycle oil with the response being lubricity and tested by a 3rd party facility. No urban mythos involved. Well, there is one myth. That the ULSD fuel does not need any additive.
Just remember that you are free to add or not add anything your little heart desires.
Sorry I have been away for about a week as I have a life. I am glad to see that people are so passionate about their diesel fuel additives. And I am so honored that I have the great John Bud's blessing to add anything that my little heart desires. I don't think I will ever reach 5000 posts, I have better things to do.
