Low flow Gyro head?

   / Low flow Gyro head? #11
Attached are pictures Robbie sent me earlier. But please, first read the legal disclaimer below...

The tests so far were done on an ASV RC-100 running on the low flow. We are planning tests on different other carriers, trying to see how far down on mechanical horsepower we can go before we can't run the head. What bugs me is the lack of case drain on many low-flow skid steers, that somewhat limits the tests we can do easily. Speaking of which, if any of you guys are near Atlanta, running a low-flow skid steer with a case drain or willing to install one, we'd be please to do some tests with you! :)

Legal Disclaimer:
  • DENIS CIMAF cannot sell its front-mount heads on machines from ASV;
  • DENIS CIMAF can sell its front-mount heads on tracked skid steers;
  • However, for the moment, the term "tracked skid steers" has to be interpreted as "wheeled skid steers" with add-on tracks. So any "tracked skid steers" as you would normally understand it, we can't sell a head for it.;
  • These restrictions apply for US, Canada and European Union;
  • Even if, in essence, any internet website can be read by anyone on the planet (having internet connection, etc...), knowing that a good number of people reading this are from the US, and how some people are keen to pull the legal trigger, I thought it would be important for the above to be clear;
  • All that to say that the pictures attached are for informational purpose, and not for marketing a mulcher-carrier combination;
  • The ASV depicted therein was the carrier that we had available, and was/is used used for tests only;
Hope that will be enough to keep the other guy's lawyers quiet... :rolleyes:

These units are going to fill a market void that has been around for awhile. I haven't seen one in person yet but I will at the first available opportunity (hint hint Robbie ;) )

As always beautiful product Fred, I will be in Ohio on Sunday night I will be back on Monday and jumping off one plane onto another and on my way to Montreal hopefully, I will be calling you Monday maybe we can get together. Dang this came out a little too late but I guess I can buy another smaller skidsteer then I'll have one of each LOL. I'm looking at a 375hp Barko wheeled machine as well maybe we can get a 8' cutter for that huh ?? :)

Clearview, after we're done with the tests, we should know if anything has to be changed in terms of engineering (speeding up recovery maybe?). And then we'll start production for real. And then it should be easier to get you to see one :p

Westshore, I love wheeled machines! :D Actually, I'd love tracked machines also if I could sell heads for them... Anyway... If time allows, we'd be happy to have you visit the shop. By then, we should have a DAF-250Ex frame in to give you an idea of what our biggest head is like. I'll wait for your call anyway.

Did you take my advice or were you going down that road all along. I have looked at the Barko twice and forgot to get pictures of the cab. If you can remember snap a few photos. Tell me that the cab on the Barko is as close to an airplane as you have seen.

Hummm...Im really not trying to be smart but-I must have missed something somewhere-No tracked vs wheeled criteria for sales..?...What if I wanted to purchase the low flow head and park it in my garage just to look at it..?????? Can you NOT sell a head for a tracked machine at all?...only at this time?? yes or no..im confused......

Cb to be honest I was kinda looking at the same getup as you a wheeled machine and a tracked unit 150ish hp but I can't decide. There are a pile of very good used wheeled machines out there as well as some well priced new machines. I am off Sunday for Ohio and then to PQ to hopefully meet with Fred. :confused:

Trust me I do not hold myself on that high of a pedastal, I was just kidding. I think that if you are going to be on a big job you need all sorts of machines. On your project you will most likely hit some areas that you will need to cover some ground (tires) and you will have to clear some places you would have a hard time walking (tracks).

No problem Scott, I'll try to make that clearer, yet short.

DENIS CIMAF agreed to some sales limitations in exchange for the large number of machines it was supposed to manufacture for Gyro-Trac. Main limitations were:
  • DENIS CIMAF can't sell a head for a tracked machines. Gyro-Trac wanted to keep the market of the tracked machines like the ones it's doing (GT-25 and the like);
  • Tracked skid steers are ok, as long as they are not from ASV. At the time of the signature of this, Gyro-Trac was in discussion with ASV to have their products distributed through ASV dealers. So GT wanted to keep that market for himself. The ASV-GT deal didn't go through, but the limitation remained.

At the moment, the term "tracked skid steer" written in the contract has to be understood as "wheeled skid steer with add-on tracks". This is following a court decision rendered early last summer. This decision is temporary however, and will be re-evaluated during the upcoming trial in January (hopefully, the decision will change then).

So, as of today, the sales limitations are actually more like:
  • DENIS CIMAF can't sell its front-mount heads on any tracked machine;
  • However, DENIS CIMAF can sell its front-mount heads on wheeled machines, whether they have add-on tracks or not;

If you call a DENIS CIMAF representative and tell him you want to install a DAF model on your compact track loader, the representative has to tell you "sorry, can't do that".

If you call a DENIS CIMAF representative and tell him you want to install a DAF model on a wheeled skid steer, or forestry tractor of some kind, then all is good.

If you say you have both types of machines but will buy the head for the tracked machine, the answer will be "sorry, can't do that".

And I can imagine how Gyro-Trac would react if I said we sold a head to a guy who said he wanted to simply "look at it" in his garage. Especially if they see that same guy running the head on a tracked machine two weeks later. Nah... GT peoples might not like me, but they won't believe I'm that dumb.

Hey, that said, Gyro-Trac does also have some limitations:
  • Any request for a front-mount head to be mounted on a wheeled machine is to be forwarded to DENIS CIMAF. So if you are sold a Gyro-Trac front-mount head for your wheeled machine, please let us know;
  • Gyro-Trac is not allowed to make excavator heads; It has to buy them from DENIS CIMAF. If you are sold a head for your excavator made by Gyro-Trac, please let us know;
  • Gyro-Trac cannot either make boom-mulcher kits like DENIS CIMAF's DTN to be mounted on a grader;
  • Any new product from Gyro-Trac that uses DENIS CIMAF fixed-tooth planar head technology can't be brought to market before a specific agreement has been reached. Right now, there is no agreement on the GT-50 nor GT-60. If you have bought or rented a GT-50, a GT-60, or any other new product from Gyro-Trac with a fixed-tooth planar head that is not 500HF or a 700HF, please let us know.

Hoping this will clarify the situation. Please let me know if you're aware of anyone not staying on its side of the fence (either from DENIS CIMAF, or Gyro-Trac).

Do you have the cite for that case?
