Nope, if it was meth, he'd try to watch without being seen himself, and if it was donuts, he'd have to get out and go in.

You may be pretty close. I just learned that if a kid misses the school in our county, the school reports to the sheriff and sheriff checks on the kid. That seems likely, since some of the family are high school age.

Aren't we all!!!

If you are simply a resident alien, you certainly can serve in the armed forces. Many resident aliens do so. If you are something other than a resident alien, then you are either a student, a diplomat, or you need to turn yourself in.

As far as jury duty and being in law enforcement, I think those would be local calls?

I have seen it going on for a while now. No, it is not my business at all, but anybody has an idea what does it mean? Every morning the sheriff's deputy shows up in police cruiser and drives to neighbors house. Never gets out of the car, sometimes sounds a buzzer to get attention. The deputy leaves in 5 minutes or so to show up next morning.

Now, for a foreigner with no clue, does it mean somebody is out on parole and deputy makes sure he is home?

Don't know but when you find out you gotta let us know as we are a very curious bunch.

My new neighbor was checked by the sheriff today.

We had a 90 year old lady living next door to us who passed away last year. Her relatives left the house unoccupied until a few weeks ago when they decided to rent it out for a while until they decide if they want to sell or not. Our new neighbor is a contractor and he seemed like a very nice guy. He has given us an old bird cage and has given things to the other neighbors also. He has a nice dump trailer that I want to borrow to move a pile of rocks from one side of my pasture to the back and I know he would lend it to me.

When I saw the four sheriffs cars pull up next door, my curiosity got the best of me and I went and asked them what's up. They said they had a warrant for his arrest for drugs and when they went to serve it on him where he was working he took off in his truck and lightly bumped a deputy, thankfully not injuring him. Now they are going to charge him with attempted murder of the deputy when they find him.

I guess I'll have another new neighbor soon.

They said they had a warrant for his arrest for drugs and when they went to serve it on him where he was working he took off in his truck and lightly bumped a deputy, thankfully not injuring him. Now they are going to charge him with attempted murder of the deputy when they find him.

I guess I'll have another new neighbor soon.

Dang! Couldn't you ask them to hold off on that arrest until you got your rocks moved with his trailer?

True story....... A local narcotics investagator asks my buddy (our local fire marshal) to go with him to a rural home to check on a tip about a meth lab. They go by the house see no signs of any activity, so they drive (in a pick up truck) to a nearby house to ask if the neighbors had seen anything. Neighbor lady meets them in the driveway and is telling them she has'nt seen anything, when her boyfriend walks out on the porch to see whats going on ...wearing a resporator and rubber chemical suit!!! My friend said they were so laughing so hard they could hardly read them their rights!
