Seems to me the hassle factor would be extreme;y high....
I agree. However, there have now been some news stories in other states where this issue is being "brought to light" because some people are pushing the issue.
It could be argued that being "hassled" is a small price to pay to excersise your rights.
Has anyone open carried in NC?
As mentioned, I haven't, however, but for the first time in 8 years living down here, a couple of months ago I noticed a guy open carrying in a supermarket store. My one thought is if you're an LEO, guess you do have a right to verify the person open carrying is legal to own a sidearm. Can't speak for an LEO, but this may be a little more nerve racking than a traffic stop.
Part of gun ownership is knowing the laws. You cross state lines, know the laws.
You're correct, however it can get very confusing and frustrating. Driving up I-81 from NC to Pa, legally I have to store my sidearm in a locked container and store ammo seperately for a total of 15 minutes on an 8 hour drive.
Please no "national standard" too many eggs in one basket.
Why? As mentioned, we do it with a drivers license.
Bottom line IMO, if you are a law abiding citizen, not convicted of any crimes, you should be able to carry IMO.
However, and think about this. You'er a gun owner and dating a girl (not married of course). Have that girl make one complaint against you (per "abuse") in the legal system, and you could have your guns taken away. This did not happen to me, but someone I knew. The girl in question was a legitmate nut case (a real good looking nut case).
