I am thinking of buying a used or new Yanmar--none in particular--and have no idea what the model numbers mean or advantages or disadvantages of different ones. I am a Yanmar newbie and need a 25 to maybe 27 HP in 2WD to make into a cultivator tractor.
I am drawn to Yanmar because I have had John Deere things that are Yanmar and have been very impressed. I like their engines. I also like the look of the Yanmar and more models are available in 2WD.
As well, I figure others may not know of the particular quality and I might be able to pick up one used at an auction or new at a dealer at a good price.

The number system seems baffling and I hope someone can steer me into a way to know HP or size of tractor at a glance. Are there any models to avoid or any to search out?
I don't need a loader, just a 2WD gear tractor--hydro OK--that won't give me too many problems. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I second kenmac's recommendation to check with Wayne. He is in SW Ohio and has some of the best equipment in this area.

I also swiped this quote off of his website...........
All units we sell will have ROPS & all other required UTDA equipment, regardless of the picture. Price includes completion of UTDA certification if tractor is currently not certified. Please see www.UTDA.net for information

kenmac, my 2210BD is 2 cyl, I thought all the 2210's were 2 cyl, am I wrong? At any rate sixdogs go with a UTDA dealer, you will be better off in the long run. Buying my Yanmar was the best thing I have ever done for myself. It is a good strong unit.

Thanks--am getting some good advice here.
I like the 3 cyl 2WD so that is my direction at the moment. Is there anywhere that might list suggested retail prices of new tractors? I'm hoping to find a used private seller or auction but may buy new. Not sure if I should be concerned about a grey market tractor. Is there a way to figure out which models are NOT grey market tractors?
I've started looking around and found these two Yanmar items

http://www.hoyetractor.com/
http://www.yanmarowners.com/index.htm

They should advertise here so someone knows they are out there

Hoye is the sponser for the Yanmar Forum. Good folks to deal with. Only into parts though.
