Okay, if the moderators see this as too gruesome, they can pull it down but here is a picture of my hand post-op. If you are not okay with a nasty pic, don't look. I'm posting it for one reason, maybe somebody out there doesn't do something as dumb as I did. I cut it on a table saw doing a plunge cut on my hardwood flooring. Everything was going great until I hit a knot and it grabbed the wood and sailed it, the momentum dragged my left hand across the blade. My Orthopaedic told me that of all his adult male hand injuries, half are table saw and half is everything else in the world.

Thanks for all the offers of shipping or transporting cans for me. It is very much appreciated. My mom and step-dad have picked me up a couple in Florida and they will either ship them or I'll go pick them up. Hey, any excuse for a road trip. I think maybe in the summer I'll need a couple more and head to Canada, with my fishing poles of course. ;)

Thanks again, Andy

don't have the same disabilities, but here is the no-battery operated version

Pumps > Drum and Barrel > Drum Pumps > Pump,Siphon,2 GPM : Grainger Industrial Supply also available elsewhere

You can either squeeze pump or, better, elevate the fuel can (on a stool, say) and a few pumps will then let it siphon

Here is the big brother

Pumps > Drum and Barrel > Drum Pumps > Pump,Siphon,7 GPM : Grainger Industrial Supply also available elsewhere

It is what I use ...cut the intake tube to fit your cans, close the top bleed knob and pump, or better yet, as above elevate and a pump or two will get the siphon flowing ...this is quite a fast siphon. To refuel my tractor, I often use it with NASCAR type fuel jugs ...hoist a full on onto the tractor hood, and quickly siphon to fill.

When I cut the intake pipe I do it at an angle so that it will not pick up the dregs of the tank ...water/crud.

Hand looks fine... once watched a AD2 go thru a S-3A turbofan jet engine... came out in pieces... once watched a JBD (jet blast deflector) fall during routine maintance... went flush with the deck with a person under it...

I know that working around physical limitations are hard to do. I have to work around being left handed so i can imagine having a problem with the hand. I am not sure what you need. The new cans I have seen around here have two different places to hold the can while you pour. I also notice that they now have a new pouring spout that has an actual lever on it that you work when the can is in position to get liquid pouring out. Will something like that help ?

Working around being lefthanded? I have always thought it was an advantage for me as a lefthanded pitcher, in Basketball I turned the "wrong" way loosing defenders, etc. In my redneck fist fighting days it was a big advantage. Plus I am almost as adept with my right hand due to everything being made for a righty.

What's to work around?

Do a search for colemans military supply in PA, its down near harrisburg. he has the old style steel cans, and you can get a pour spout, with them. as far as getting them filled, im sure cash talks.

When I cut the intake pipe I do it at an angle so that it will not pick up the dregs of the tank ...water dirt and other crud.
Both drums in this set up have angled suction tubes/ i.e. intake pipes./
In addition there is an aluminum screen on the end of each tube/pipe.
The filter on the pump keeps things out of the tractor tank but the screens keep stuff out of the pumps impeller.

I'm left handed and write use a hammer and silverware with my left hand ,but can't throw a ball or stone worth a nickel left handed as that's very awkward for me.
I throw very well and accurately with my right hand.
I also use scissors pliers and other smiler things better with my right hand.
I shoot a gun right handed .
I can use others tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers in either hand but do a little better with my right hand for them.
I can use a hammer in either hand to drive nails but am a little better at that with my left hand.

I guess you could /might say I'm both handed.
Nothing wrong with that.
Since I have 2 hands why not use them ? !

checked our local WM store in middle Tennessee today. Didn't see any gas cans except the ones with these enviro-nozzle things for $12.97. The gas spouts were the same for $4.97. There was bulb siphon on the shelf for sale.

How could these things be any more environmentally friendly than the old plastic cans with the cap on the spout?

Exactly, I've spilled more gas because of the new ones, than I could ever spill in a lifetime with the old ones.
