5 Gallon Cans and the American's with Disabilities Act

I haven't looked in the store lately. So they no longer sell those fuel can nozzles they used to sell for gas cans?

I'll jump out on a limb here. Suppose you drill a hole in the bottom of the front of an unused, clean gas can and attach a fuel line hose and shut off valve? Set the gas can on a milk crate or something to elevate it above whatever you are filling. Put the hose in the tank and open the valve?

Different construction would be to add a brass hose barb from a plumbing supply place to the bottom side of the can, attach the fuel line hose and then put a shut off valve at the end of the hose. Make the hose long enough to store on the handle of the gas can.

The difficult part is figuring out how to reach down in the gas can to hold the nut and washer that will be used on the inside to make the connection leak tight. Maybe tape the washer and nut to a long handled 3/8 breaker bar and then twist the barb connection tight from the outside of the can?

Something like this?

Because every state has its own government team of experts that know better than the rest of us what is best for us. Looking toward the new administration - more controls on your life are coming soon.

Unrelated to the rest of the thread but related to this poster.
Not to create a political discussion which is a no-no here but just wanted to make a statement about a law my state is trying to pass. No replies needed.

Just read in my morning paper today that our state government wants to add an additional sales tax on non-diet soda (regular soda). They feel the need to charge more for regular soda as their part to help cut down on obesity in this country. What's next? an extra tax on candy. Maybe they should add a surcharge tax to all bakeries.

Yes, SnowRidge, just a homebrew version. But if he's going to run into problems filling it at the gas station because it's a nonapproved container, then I've wasted his time and money.

I guess I better run out to my Farm Store and snatch all the replacement spouts for my old Jerry cans. { they still had them the last time I looked} They are full bore. I would have a breakdown trying to fill my diesel tractor with one of those little spouts you guys are showing.

Look for a Briggs and Stratton dealer in your area. They sell fuel cans that have vents. Parts & Supplies - Briggs & Stratton I bought two of the 2-1/2 gallon cans this summer.

Look on ebay for the Blitz Self Venting spouts, they have the air inlet built into the nozel so its close to the old cans and they'll fit right on the can's in place of the "push crap" nozel. Or see if a state near you sells the self venting type cans. I cheat and go across the bridge into Southern Virginia and buy my cans. I think I'll make a trip tomorrow since the self venting's are discontinued, see if they have any left at the Advance Auto Parts.

People are stocking up on other stuff thinking it may be banned next year, but until now, I would have never guessed that fuel spouts for gas cans would become black market items.

But not in those states that prohibit them. In fact, I checked with two of the dealers listed on that website in my area and because of the kinds of cans they would have to sell, they just simply do not sell any fuel cans at all.
