Quick Hitches Where to buy cat I and cat ll quick hitch?

I own a LandPride Cat 1 quick hitch and I highly recommend it. LandPride also makes a Cat 2 unit.

It seems like everyone who buys the Harbor Freight units love the price, and then immediately comment they have to do some serious bending of it to get it to work with their implements. That kind of hassle is not saving money in my book.

I have the HF and have modified it and my implements so the only thing I have to adjust is the top link hook. I am still no 100% happy with it and am thinking about going with a PATS.

Have you guys that have problems with the HF and other QHs, considered going with the Delta system. I have seen it in action and it looks quite interesting. I considered it when i started wanting a QH, but finally decided to go with a more conventional hitch similar to the HF and JD units. I made it to standard and now am in the process of modifying my implements to match. But once they are modified it should be fine. My QH build here.

And make sure you measure every which way you can. I measured the pin spacing of all my implements, which matched up with the spacing on the HF quick-hitch, so I bought it. It turns out that some of my implements have two parallel steel plates, and the pin goes between them through holes in the plates, like the unit in this picture:

Works fine with a lift arm (better than fixed pins, actually), but the HF quick hitch wouldn't fit between the plates far enough to reach the pins.

Another implement had fixed pins, but had a sleeve for a scarifier mounted close enough behind one of 'em that the QH wouldn't fit, again.

In the end, not a single one of my existing implements would fit the HF QH without modification. The iMatch hitch might be different, but it sure doesn't look like it to me.

Not intending to hi-jack the thread, but what is that interesting implement you have pictured there? That may be just the ticket for prepping a hayfield I'm re-seeding this spring. It's been plowed (in October) and ready for spring's arrival. I WAS planning on discing a couple times, pulling a spike harrow behind the disc on pass #2, before seeding with my old Deere FBB drill. Under the right conditions, that implement may be a single pass prep, and leaving a much more level field.

Bill, I don't remember the name of his implement, but it is usually used to groom the ground for horses I believe. Hopefully wwalkersd will get back and tell you how well it works and the mfg name.

It's a horse arena groomer called a Red Master Harrow. See Red Master Harrow (click here). The photo is of their 3-row version. I have a 6' single-row and an 8' 2-row. I would be very, very surprised if there wasn't a less expensive implement that would do what you need. Don't ask me how I know! (I know there's good money in the horse business because I put it there!) For example, the King Kutter Field Cultivator at Northern Tool. Same S-tines, but without the pan or roller and gauge wheels.

On edit: Just re-read that you were in the Sierra foothills. The local Red Master distributor (if you've got your heart set on one) is West Coast Footings of Mokelumne Hill, CA.

The main problem with the Delta system is that you have to buy an implement side piece for each piece of equipment you use. It can be pretty expensive.

I would look at Land Pride to start with. If you want it to be really easy though, check out the Delta hitch. Both are costly.

The problem with virtually all QA schemes is the extension of the 3ph arms and consequent increase of implement leverage on the tractor. This affects handling and causes more stress on tractor parts. We had an 1100# flail on an L3450 rated for 2000 pounds. The implement was on a Pats QC system. My wife hit a moderate bump with the implement up and it crashed to the ground. The internal arm that drives the rocker shaft broke. The price of convenience?

No matter what QH you are going to use, you need a consistent standard on the implement side, with the delta system you buy an adapter plate, with the HF style you manually have to conform your implements to the your QH standard.
