Now everytime I refresh the TBN homepage I get a popup. How do we get rid of this??? I have run virus scan, malware scan, and spyware scan. They all come up with nothing. I am running vista and just ran a windows update about a week ago. This just started today and is now very laggy and will lockup for a couple minutes every so often. Would never expect this from TBN:(

Go look under security/options in Firefox to change ActiveX settings.

I may be wrong about this, but I thought one of the big security selling points of Firefox was that it did not support ActiveX.

It Certainly Appears To Me , to Be Coming from The Ads at The bottom . It Seems Theres Been Enough people having the same problem, No Matter, What Their , Settings are, Which Browser Their Using or Security They have . I,ve Found Nothing When Running Scanners, No Other sites I visit have this Problem . I Think it at least needs to be looked into. Just My Thoughts. Bob

Perhaps same folks are getting a bit confused here. The specfic item that I looked at was an ad placed by Google (with our consent) -- an AdSense ad. It was typical of the Google ads that run without incident on TBN and millions of other web sites.

As others have pointed out, one can block these ads if one doesn't ever want to see them. But actually the way Google ads are selected and displayed, I think and most people agree, can be a useful and beneficial enhancement of the content being discussed, specially on forums. Also, the ads help pay the bills on a free site.

This one ad, however, was advertising something I would call essentially "inappropriate", without being in any way obscene or otherwise objectionable. It was about finding a "date" I guess one could say. So, when we see or are informed of ads like this, we can advise Google of specific ads they run which we feel are not of the type we like, or our members like. That is the ONLY issue I was addressing.

If anyone has "popup boxes" and ActiveX or other kinds of scripts running, or other configuration issues, they are local to your computer, and are not run by TBN and not caused by TBN.

So it is incorrect to call this a "spam attack" or "Popup problem".

As I said, we hope to get to the issue within the next 24 hours.
