bx-23 ,
Even though my cab is nice and warm i get alot of draft around the consoles where the levers are,its wide open to the world.Iput some duct tape over a few of the openings like the 4 wd lever, that stays locked in.Ithought of laying a heavy towel over the levers, but im constantly lifting and lowing my 3 point hitch. What has anybody done to knock down some of the draft coming up through these wide open places? On the other hand i can see my tire chains on the rears through the holes

I've noticed the same draft, actually snow blows in my lap sometimes. I was thinking about maybe removing the control consoles to expose just the controls. Then cut slits into a sheet of rubber (1/8" thick or so?) to fit it over the control levers as a gasket, then reattach the consoles over the rubber sheet. I haven't even looked to see if the consoles can be easily removed yet. But when I got the tractor this May, I immediately wondered if they (the rubber gaskets) had been left out by the factory in error.

There are allot of holes in my B3030 factory cab too, after a long time running with the heat on It smells like the air coming across the diesel engine into the cab.
So even the factory cab has leaks.

Haven't noticed it with my 08 4240 :( It's as toasty as my trucks cab!

I think the 4240 is in a different category (better) then the B factory cab.
I have more then plenty of heat but lots of places where dust and engine fumes seep in. They could of done a better job on the 3030 cab in sealing it.

Alan,

Yea I have places where the cold leaks in. The Sims cab has a Velcro cover that is placed at the base of the seat, and at the FEL to slow down the heat loss. Also I have covered the air in-take at your feet to prevent the heat from being sucked out. Yea some air comes in BUT with the the heater running it is conferable.:D

Is your radiator fan drawing air through the cab? If my memory serves me right is there not a plate somewhere underneath you can remove and then block the intake screen under the steering wheel?

(opps - I see New York Yankee fan covered this.)

i take the cover off both side and i put a gray rubber tarp and i put it on the fender with small screw and under the cover i put some clear plastic tape and put on top to see my lever control and cut it in the middle and put some onder the seat and it cut the air a lot hpoe it will help you

You must have a problem because that doesn't happen with my B3030HSDC.

I might be a little more sensitive to the smells but the dust comes in , After working in and around a garage the last 30 years smells like antifreeze, brake fluid, diesel, and even new tires seem to bother me after awhile, so it's most-likely just me with the smells. But we do have the same tractor. The radiator fan blows the air across the engine through the holes in the firewall and into the cab. When I removed the lower dash panel the fuel tank is exposed, there was all dirt and dust inside the panel that came through the firewall holes. There are holes all over where the control levers and pedals come through and all the seams on the floor are not sealed.

If you just use your tractor for snow or non dusty conditions you would not notice the dirt coming into the cab, But if you're out pulling the york rake in August when you're done that cab is dusty inside. The cab is not sealed. Don't get me wrong there is not snow or cold air coming through but it's not sealed for dusty conditions.

And if you spill any diesel fuel between the mouth of the tank and the metal hood cowl there is foam under there , the tank is in between the firewall and under the inside dash panel I think that is part of my problem with the engine smells. The fan slowly over time blows it into the cab. I make sure I don't spill a drop when I fill it. I bought my tractor with 90 hrs used and I think the previous owner spilled diesel on that foam more than once. I only notice the smells after running with the a/c or heat on for more then an hour or so. I wonder if anyone else ever had this problem.
