Northland, can you tell me what your hearth floor is made with? Thanks

This is what I made for the stove residing in the cellar. It has helped about 5-7 more degrees in the house. I guess my next project is to insulate the foundation as I guess 12" thick of concrete is equal to 1/2 inch of particle board

My hearth floor is actually very nice porcelain tile from Home Depot. Cheap and very nice-the wife picked it out

It is very handsome indeed and could go very well with my hearth should I need to eventually move this stove into the living room. Thanks for the tip.

Can any on tell what they think is the best hot air wood furnace out there. I'm thinking about adding one next year.

Brian, we replaced a 50+ year old Thermaster wood/coal furnace with a Scotty model DC-12 made by Kerr, here is a link

Have used half the wood I normally use, have lived in this house for 25 years and this is my only source of heat.
