There's nothing like shiny steel and fresh plowed soil.:D

My shoulder is starting to heal, starting to feel human again, been cooped up in the house all winter, man you're killing me, wanting to get out and get in the dirt, still too cold and wet here. That sure looks good, little more scouring and fine tuning and that'll be sweeter than music. Keep the pics coming till spring gets to this neck of the woods.

Nice job on the straight rows!!! It took me a while to get mine that straight. The soil looks nice also for your tractor and plow setup. I dont know how well it would work in my soils. Very wet and rocky.
Oh yea I want that plow:D

Here a a couple of pictures of the field I plowed and rototilled this spring and planted sweet corn on. I ran a 2-bottom 12in. ferguson plow and a one pass with the 6ft KKII tiller. I thought it turned out nice. This is one of my best fields becuase it has very few rocks in it.
Did it all with my 43hp Montana with R4's.

You think you got rocks in your field? You have a beautiful field in my opinion, check out the rock patch I am dealing with!

to the OP, great looking setup, great rows! You did real good! I am :D with envy.

Thanks Everyone,
I tell ya what, Last Saturday, Jan 3rd, it was 75 degrees when I was plowing. The next morning it was 18 and never got above 30. It hasn't been above 30 since but today it's forecast to be in the mid 40's.
It's driving me crazy...
It's been too cold to get in the barn and adjust on the plow.

WarrenF, yes it's a Ford 102, built in 1960 and it is hydraulic. The mechanism taht rolls it is cast iron and was broken. I had a local welder who knew how to weld cast build it back up. When I first tried to roll it, it slammed over so fast it scared me. I now have a restricter in one hose and it rolls over in about 5 seconds. Perfect! I looked for a long time before I found this one. Just recently, I found 3 more, all seeming to be in better shape than mine was. Oh well, I've fixed everything on this one now.

About my straight rows...
When I first started, they were perfectly straight but I let my Dad make about 3 passes. He's got right turn idus. ;) It took me to the point of these pictures to get them back straight. it was a pain.

Adjustments...
It needs to turn just a bit more each way in order for the plow to be level with the wheel in the furrow.

More dirt to plow...
I have a friend who has 9.7 acres he wants broke.

lessee, 9.7 acres divided by .896 acres per hour equals 10.8 hours.
Allow for turning around time, BS'n, eatin'...
That ought to be a good long weekend of plowin'.

Not sure I want to take on the 177 acre labor I rent to a farmer. :D

Allen, those roll over plows were not popular in my area, guess due to how small our fields are. I am impressed your tractor can pull that plow so well compared to it's hp. I have about the same hp Kubota and would have never thought it could. Have you looked in the manual at what Kubota rates that tractor to handle? I have a M6800 and it does not rate that tractor at I think 3 14 inch plows.

kthompson, my tractor is rated for two 12 inch plows or one 16 inch.

Like I said earlier, I was worried that I might not be able to pull the plow properly. It does a fine job in my soil, even the hard packed turnrow.
The R4 tires even do well and I was surprised at that.
I use my tractor much more for hard surface work than I do in the field so I chose R4's.

As for the "not turning far enough to set level with the wheel in the furrow".... You might need to do what you'd do with a conventional plow. Level it with the crank that adjust's level of 3-point draft arms.

In theory, you should be able to stop at any point, plow in the ground, and throw a level across the width of the plow frame or length of frame and get a true level reading. Of course that's contingent upon the ground you're plowing being level.

farmswithjunk,
if I use the three point arm to level one set of bottoms, then when I roll it, the other set is waaay off. The plow has stop bolts that regulate how far the plow rolls in each direction. Those, along with the rolling mechanism and the lock, is what I need to play with.

I intend to set one side of the tractor front and rear tire, up on 7 1/2 inch blocks (because that's what I have) let the plow down on the floor and adjust it, then move the blocks to the other side, roll the plow and set the other pair of bottoms.

Is that correct?

That sounds like a reasonable place to start. I don't have ANY experience setting up a 2-way plow, so anything I say is pure speculation.

I'd start with the tractor (and plow) on a level surface. get the hitch cross bar level. Then set stops to where the plow frame is level when on the blocks.

Have you ever looked for a manual? I'd about bet there's good set-up info contained with-in.

Taking a drive this coming weekend to look at a bit of an oddball plow myself. Looking to buy a Kverneland "match plough" 2-bottom/3-point plow. (just for giggles). No clue as to what/why I need one for, but that never stops me from doing anything.

Doesn't one side of the lower lift arms mount lower than the other side? I know on my plow, Massey model 55 two bottom roll over, one of the lower lift arms mounts on the plow lower.
