2000 series buying

Hey Tom - no problem with the rough cut bogging down, if it does start to slow a bit I just slow down the movement of the tractor. I cut about 5 acres of grass and weeds a couple times per summer and it has been working great.

Hello Runner - the tractor has the FEL, no 54 inch blade. I just use the standard bucket that came with the FEL, it take a while but I don't mind as ling as it isn't -40 with the wind chill.

The dealership here is getting me a price for the 47 blower and all the needed bits and pieces.

I just had the call back from the local dealship today and the price on the 47 blower with the quick hitch and all the needed parts and pieces is going to be $4200.00. Pretty big cost.

Hard to believe that pricing, and hard to believe that you could buy a Corvette for that price when I got out of the Army......... Wow. That's almost half the price of a 2305 US.

The time has come, wife approved the purchase. I'm seeking advice.

I've trolled these boards for about a year now, so have read a lot of posts. I'll stick to things I haven't seen asked/answered already.

Background: We have almost an acre in Rochester, NY. Most of that is grass or driveway. Driveway is asphalt, about 300', with an incline that's not too bad, maybe 10% and a wide spot at the garage end that would park about 6 cars (that's really a pain w/ a 27" snowblower).

I've met two dealers in the area (T. Nelson, and Ontrac (Bob James)). Both were nice folks, and seemed easy to work with. Nelson offered a larger discount (15%) than James (10%) but that's not a show stopper.

My main use will be clearing snow. I intend to buy a loader (200cx), and am considering a snowblower. One dealer recommended plowing w/ the loader first, and if that doesn't work as well as I like, then buying a snowblower. That sounds reasonable to me.

Secondary is general loader use. Wife is big into gardening. I spent a few years running an old Ford loader around and know how versatile a loader is, so to me that's a no brainer.

Third may be mowing, but not sure if this will be maneuverable enough for me. I figure I'll try that out in the summer. We have a riding lawnmower that does the job fine.

Probably any 2000 series will be overkill for me, but I'm leaning toward the 2520. I like the better hydraulics, and also the lower engine RPM at rated HP (2600) v. the 2305 and 2320 (3000). The 2720 seems so far overkill for me I don't see the point of going there.

Questions:
1. Anyone plow w/ loader w/ one of these?
2. Any experience w/ either of these dealers?
3. Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

I live in oswego ny, just north of you and you know we get alot of snow. This is my second year owing my 2305 and I love it. My driveway is 200' long and 30' wide, I have the 47'' front blower and you can't beat that. It doesn't work all that great in the heavy wet snow so I bought a 54'' blade and converted into a 24'' by 6' wide blade which works great. I mow between 3 an d 5 acres of grass.I didn't need or have use for a loader, I checked out the 2320 and 2520 both nice machines but for my needs the 2305 was all the tractor I needed.I know bigger is suppose to be better and those tractors look fantastic but for the extra cash I put that into a curtis cab and attachments, for each his own i guess but thats me, good luck there all great machines on whatever one you choose also there is a good dealer in savanah ny. called lakeside and I believe they have another in avon ny closer to you savananh is not far from seneca falls ny.

The price I listed on the posting before was in Canadian funds. I was thinking about getting one from a dealer in North Dakota but today the Canadian dollar was only worth 79.9 cents U.S., plus the cost of driving to pick it up and any border crossing problems.

The price from this dealer may not be that bad but I will check with a few other dealers that are pretty close by.

Went to get schooled up on putting it all together yesterday. That hydraulic chute rotation is pretty sweet!

FYI, price for the blower and all of its parts including the optional remote spout cap control kit was 2790.06. I don't know how that maps to Canadian money this week, but maybe it's worth it to borrow a full size pickup and make a trip across the border...

Given the exchange rate, that sounds more like it, though I would be trying to find it at around $2700.00 US. I was quoted about $3000 last spring when I was also looking at JD's.

I would say anything larger than a 2305 would be serious overkill. A 300' driveway begs for a blower. You might shop Ebay for a deal on a blower in your area. I would also recommend you get some sort of soft cab to protect you from that blower. I myself have a three sided weatherbreaker made by Femco was around $200(don't remember for sure) but worth every penny but has no roof so might not be quite enough protection from a blower but WAAAAAAAY better than nothing! I do a 100' driveway with my loader. It's pretty handy around the yard in summer too. The big pain about clearing snow is the larger wide area in front of the garage which requires a lot of backing up which is hard on the neck. The worst drawback of the loader is that it requires a lot of practice and finesse (?) which is to say a bit too tricky for my wife to learn so I have to do it every time.

Hi Spud.

To give you a price check, I purchased a 47" blower for my X585 last October. The all in price including GST was $3200 installed. That included the blower, quick hitch, front pto and drive up. I know prices have risen since then becuase of the reduced Cdn $. The JD configurator shows an all in price with estimated GST at $4000 for the set up I purchased. I know I received a good price as I've purchased 3 quads from the dealer and he knew I was purchasing a 2720 in the next few weeks (done...just need to find time to pick it up!).

The set up works great.

Hope this helps.

This is the same dealership I bought my 2320 from and it came with the FEL, 62D mid mount mower and the 655 tiller. Then a little while after I bought the 60 inch rough cut mower from the same dealership and salesman. I am going to talk to him and see if he can do better on the price after all I did spend over $20,000.

I understand the prices have gone up, steel is more expensive and the dollar is really low right now but I did spend lots of money at this dealership over the past year and a half. I checked the JD Configurator as well and came up with a couple different prices ranging from $3600 to $4300, but I am not sure of all that I need to connect this blower to the 2320.

I still have to talk to a few other dealers in the area, I haven't had time to do that so far, maybe next week.

Thanks for your information, enjoy the 2720.
