So I guess I'll keep monitoring the oil level. If I do have to split, then I'll wait till early spring as I need the tractor to plow snow, haul firewood, etc.
TCBOOMER had a couple of post about splitting his TC24DA. You still here?
Yep...so ask away and I'll do what I can to help. I have pix stored if you need them. I had to do the input seal on the hydro, so I didn't have to r&r the clutch and flywheel. IMO, it's a fairly easy job if you have the mechanical abilities and tools.
When I get a chance I'll take a look and see if the rear main seal is an external one piece design. If so...a piece of cake to replace most likely.
PM me or we can walk through it here. One suggestion I have is if your certain it's engine oil, add some dye before tear down and run it a bit. It just helps confirm the source. I can send you a small bottle if you need it. But you also need a black light to see the dye.
I agree with what others have said...if it's a minor leak, you might consider holding off til it gets worse. My hydro leak started small...the size of a quarter, but within about 6 hrs(had 10 on the clock), it increased dramatically. Left a mess about 2' diameter after plowing snow.
