I think by code he will have to use 4 conductor wire for sub pannel and no ground out there.

double check me but the last 2 I put in here in pa were that way.

Here is a link on how to add a sub pannel

you need a seperate ground rod added if its a seperate building and have less than 25 ohms difference to the original ground.

The discussion is about running 115 FT to an out building It's in the code book and the inspectors around here require it.
Even if it wasn't in the code would it make sense to ground at the out building in case it gets hit by lightning? whats it going to cost $20-30 cheap insurance !

Having 240v to your out building would be the best, but you can run a Lincoln 220AC welder with a Generac Wheelhouse 5550. I did most (almost all) of my projects in the field with that set up. It was about $220 for the welder and $500 for the generator.
Having said that, I now have 240v in my barn and wlding with the same welder requires much, much lower settings for welding same thickness than off the generator. I still use the generator for off site jobs.

try and run it through the main power supply like from your house.

I prchasde a Miller Bocat 250 gas welder, around 3K, this is a great welder, also a 10,000 watt generator, puts out 220 and 110, sorry never tried using power tools while welding, its not portable unless in a truck bed, The noise is not too bad but for continious use run the wire unless you are going to do some out in the bush welding
