I have never seen that arrangement.
On another thread I learned a trailer that I can sell for $1700 cost $3000 4 states a way in the North East.
Chris
You guys are both right. Like I said they may be out there but they are by no means the standard. I personally had never seen either a 3.5K in 6 lug or a 5K in a 8 lug. I check with my dealers sheet and 6 lug 3.5K is not a option. 8 lug 5.2K or 6.0K is not available either. 8 lug are only available for 7.0K and up. This is from 7 or 8 that list the data and they are major manufactures.
Here is what I said "Now that is not saying I have seen it all so there very well may be some axles like that." I see they are now available in these configurations like you said. I am guessing its geared for replacement axles so that one can use a existing set of wheels. I guarantee if you walk 10 dealers lots in my area it is just as I say. Now it may be different in other parts. It seems nothing is standard on these trailer, including prices. On another thread I learned a trailer that I can sell for $1700 cost $3000 4 states a way in the North East.
Sorry for the confusion.
Chris
northeast can be expensive way to buy trailers. My 7k landscape 16 ft'er was 2k in price new. This is the lowest price in my area for 80 miles. If I knew diamond pilot was selling trailers when i first bought mine and before gas prices shot up, I would've driven all the way to pick it up from him or half way at least just to save at least 500 buckeroos.
So you then had to get new wheels also or did it have 6 lugs on it when it was a non braked axle? I put brakes on trailers from time to time and just get the same lug pattern on the hubs so I can reuse the old wheels. Any trailer dealer could have gotten you 3,500# brake kit in 5 lug pattern...
Chris
Yea it was already 6 lug. I thought is was also strange that it did not have any backing plates for brakes.
My little 4x8 even has backing plates....
Last May I ordered my new trailer just when gas was getting real high. I went in one day to find out where it was and the dealer said my trailer was done and ready to deliver but with the cost of gas they couldn't afford to deliver it. Said it would be 1000.00 dollars (cost to the company, not me )from Alabama to Ohio. I wasn't in a hurry and it took 2 more months before they sold a few more trailers to make the trip worth it.I couldn't believe the prices the guys down south were paying compared to here. I think its because of shipping to get them here since no one builds trailer here.
For future reference, you can get backing plates for about $5 each and weld them on.
