Too late to get the light from Kubota, went to the junk yard yesterday searched just about every make and model till I found a flush mounting light, gray in color. I had the headliner of the tractor out and wanted to get a light in before I reinstalled it , been wanting to put one in for a while now. I did that part last night, now the wiring.

I don't know if you have found a switch yet, but if you are at a junkyard looking for parts, look at a Volvo 740, 760, 780, 940 or 960 of any year they have switches that are physically identical to the one in the picture for the doors (right down to the rubber boot), they mount in the front of the doorframe with a single phillips or torx screw. The older (1980-mid 90's)VW jettas and rabbits may have had the same switches as well, but I havent worked on one in a while.

Thanks Aaron,
I have decided today not to put any switch in , the light is in and I can turn it on and off from the switch on the light.
Most of the time that i will need the light I will already be in the cab. Turn it on to get out and move something then shut it off when I get back in .
Looking at my door frame and the size of the hole I will have to drill in it and the nice flexible door gasket and what will happen to it over time , I think I am going to wait and see , I ran the wires down the pillars so if I decide at a later date they will be in reach. I looked thru a catalog of door switches today It's unbelievable how many different sizes and kinds they have, you would think even the same car manufactures would settle on one or two kinds of switches There had to be 100 different ones. What is also important is the pressure it takes to push the switch in, some have a very strong spring others very weak spring, all I have is glass with a very soft gasket on the door I don't want to mess it up and experiment with one that may make the door hard to close or the light go on and off while driving.
I really appreceate you passing that information to me.
Here is a picture of the installed light. The spot lights are nice because it lights up the dash, the floor, out the door, and not me. If I switch to the middle light the whole cab lights up including me. At first I thought it was big but I happy with the amount of light it gives off and the pattern.

I like that dome light with spots WaxMan.

That is some tricked out forklift 4Shorts and that tig weld bead on the aluminum is something to proud of.

I sure like the air temp gauge and volt meter too.

Looking good, I like the little rubber accordion gasket spacers, nice touch.

Thanks man. Glad you like it. I think I'll stop with thant many gauges for now. When the summer arrives the tractor won't be used at all so I may look into a custom fibreglass inclosure for the monotor and the gauges but I kind of like the way it looks now.

Great job on your cab light. That's what I call a "Class Act" seeing things installed like that. Love the talant on this site and the will to share ideas.

Thanks for the pictures on the forklift, that really looks nice. that is some nice stacks you put on it. i really like the way you mounted the lights in the diamond-plate, nice welding too.

When i used to drive a tractor trailer, i drove for a flat bed company
(TMC) i hauled all types of metal, sometimes i would have different types of metal going to 3 different stops, several times i would have around 2 thousand 4 by 8 sheets of diamond-plate, that's one load i would really have to keep a good eye on, because of thieves.

Thanks for sharing the forklift:D

Man I can only imagine seeing that much diamond plate in one place. Glad you enjoyed seeing the fork lift and what I've done with it. My wife say's "Why do you put yourself through this" I just enjoy messing around with this stuff. It took the full weekend just to mount the stacks and build the two aluminum parts but when it's done it will be forgotten about. Just yesterday we had customers in the shop and they really enjoyed seeing the changes to the lift so if it brings a smile to ones face it's worth it. :D

I agree.WaxMan sure got great taste. Love the light. I'm happy with the gauges. Glad you like them also. Thanks.

Ok, looks like it turned out very nice, much like your other creations.

With all the "accessories" that you guys have added, did you have to put a gas turbine generator in to carry all the power requirements:D

Nope. I didn't go with the gas turbine generator. I went with the roof mounted 5500 Watt generator.

I elongated my hood and put these in. I don't have the hight clearance for the generator. Plus by adding the eight batteries in series, I don't even need glow plugs anymore.
Spins over no problem at 40 below, fires right up. And there's more hood to Wax.

OK Wax & 4S, you Kubota customizers! Will be taking delivery of a new B3030 HSDCC within the next week. Looking around for a place with reasonably priced LED lollipops to replace the stock rear units. So far everything seems to be in the $40 - $45 each range. Know of any bargain spots?
Also, opted not to go with Kubota's factory AM/FM/CD for nearly $700 list. I probably wouldn't play CD's in a tractor anyway. How about suggestion for a clean looking alternative installation with just AM/FM and mucho cheaper than Kubota stock?
You two certainly inspire some folks to bump up the creature comforts!

Wow JJZ 109, congrats on the new tractor. I bet your having trouble sleeping waiting for it to arrive :D. I think WaxMan is the pro here when it comes to the sound system department but If It were me wanting a stereo I would head over to Wal-Mart and pick up a unit for about a $100. and install it. I know you said you wouldn't be playing CD's but if you have it you'll use it and it's not expensive doing it that way.

As for the lights. Go across the border to a Princess Auto store and get them there. There are times you can get them for less than $30 each and there the ones I use on mine. I'm converting all my lights over to LED's next except the top front and rear lights.

Be sure to post some pictures of that new beast when you get it. I'll be watching for them :D
