He hasn't posted back . Wonder if he got it started. He didn't say how cold it was or where he's located. his oil ( depending on the type he used) may also be thick If it's cold where he is. I'll have to try my thermo start & decompression system some time

I always use my decompression lever even though cold weather is rarely an issue for me for two reasons.First is like a savey Mechanic buddy of mine told me years ago in his opinion that the most engine wear comes from cold starts. The engine running intil the oil pressure comes up.Secondly as others have stated that it is easier on the starter to get the motor spining.I had issues with my starter when I purchased my tractor getting hot and draging with a full charge on the battery.New cables and cleaning the solinoid terminals also useing an air compresser to blow out all of the brush dust corrected that problem. These procedures seem to work but thats just might be me.

Did anyone see or read the thread on, Pics of moving snow.Looks life fun but dang we planted potatoes and onoins yesterday.I think after liveing in the NE.for 20 yrs.and having to deal with that white crap once or twice is nice but I believe i'd rather stick with tilling and planting this time of year.

If nothing else the compression release makes it sound kind of neat. Like your Yanmar is preparing for takeoff. LOL.

Tried it for the 1st time today. It sure won't start. I thought it would have let out a little compression. but, all the compression is let out. Like you said though. It sounds kinda of neet;)

Hi Guys,
I have been waiting on a fuel filter (had to order from Hoye) It is arriving tomorrow I hope. Anyway I will install and bleed the fuel system and try some of these terrific suggestions. Will let you know. Thanks again.

Well I installed the fuel filter and bled the system. I used the battery on my pickup to try and start. No luck, same as before. My only other thought would be the starter. Does amyone know how to check out the starter and solenoid?

I would take it to a local auto electric shop. They should be able to test it and make repairs if necessary.
