What would you think the whole thing would cost with siding, insulation in walls and roof and vapor barriers? I literally have no idea what to expect for a total price. Any help appreciated.
Call your Morton salesman and ask him. He should be able to quote you a price right over the phone since he already has the dimensions of your building. Make sure you are sitting down when he tells you the price.
He said $20,000 and that it effectively doubles the price of a building. I feel the Amish will come in for substantially less and do a great job if I do it.
I have avoided Morton because of what appeared to be bait-and-switch tactics. I bought one barn from them a few years ago and they gave me a similar price of "$23,000 or so" for the exact same thing over the phone when I asked. I am an easy customer and this was before the price of steel went up..
In person it jumped to $33,500 but could do it for a little less. After some wrangling and bad feelings I switched to a basic model from Walters Bldg. for $21,000. It's a great builing and 10 ft longer. Salesman was capable and true to his word. Good work crew and a pleasant experience.
I am not a cheapskate but found the Morton experience upsetting.
I like my Morton building (my second one) but boy are they expensive. This is my second Morton building and we are thinking about getting another building sometime when finances are better. I don't think I would go back to Morton. They just seem to be getting way too costly and there is another company located in PA by the name of Conestoga who does a great job. I know three people who have the Conestoga and they swear by them and they are substantially cheaper but their quality and workmanship are very good. I believe Conestoga uses Amish crews also. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
