Other than what's been mentioned already, here's what comes to mind.

IF, you do look at a BX24, the first batch had tons of plastic. The fender supports the floorboard on a BX. The plastic fender was not strong enough to support the floorboard and there were scores of reports on here of members stepping on the floorboard and the fender breaking. Version two of the BX24 had reinforcement ribbing in the plastic of the fender, and was somewhat stronger. Version 3 went back to metal.

The new more ergonomic seat was introduced while the BX24 was in production. I believe that some have it, and some don't. A lot of people purchaced a replacement.

The backhoe on the 22/23 has a straight boom. The 24/25 have a curved boom. Members seem to believe this has made more difference on the bh than similar curving that was done to the frame of the FEL.

Lee Brown: Nobody mentioned you not having rights/privledges. To be candid, it comes across as just wanting to be noticed. It's just like all the other boasting about first organized settlement in NW, $5 lic. plates, mobile homes you sold being stronger than stick built houses, decks you built with 2x4 joists that are stronger than others' on 2x10 joists, replying to multiple posts with short quotes and strange colors/formats and putting them in separate replies to inflate the number of posts and membership level, boasting about a BX23 purchase price that's too good to believe, and owning 3 BX tractors. Other people see it as immature when one tries to be showy in that manner. You have improved immensely in your nettiquette and I salute you on that. A lot of people are still rubbed the wrong way, however, when somebody posts just for the purpose of saying, "I have one too, I have one too." Most members want what's posted to have informational value. Other content is o.k. too, as long as people relate to what you are saying, but to be honest, Lee, those comments came across as just trying to be noticed, and that just doesn't go over very well with the majority of people. Most just ignore it as childish, but others are outspoken enough to give replies like the ones you've gotten here. Keep working; you are getting better.

Tom, I'd like to nominate you for UN Secretary General. You have a great sense of how to be clear and not dodge difficult feedback without making it sound nasty or dismissive.

Kudos also to LBrown especially for his efforts with the fuel setup. That is an example of constructive participation rather than gadfly behavior.

Oh God, why would you want to torture me like that!!?? Just leave me on my little 5 acres with my wife, child and Kubota please. That's all I need in life!

Seriously, though. Your comments are more kind than I deserve.

1*I've noticed that also.
2*Thanks.
3*I don't really intend it to come off as gadfly / i just like talking about tractors and the stuff that goes with them.

My BX23 has been a good machine...A few points of interest are rear 3ph lift height being minimal (have learned to work with it), sticky (when machine's cold) HST throttle foot feed (have learned to work with it), and no tach (still researching an add on) but have learned to work with it...Big items overall? Not really......It's been a very good workhorse for me.

OT -
I'm in a serious hunt for a 20+ to 45 hp TLB combo. I appreciate all these discussions and sharing of info, but many threads seem to veer to OffTopic discussions between members and it makes it time consuming to wade through a thread and find one pertinent post per page.
Could y'all please start your off topic comments with something showing it's off topic?
And as far as LBrown goes - it seems he's gotten a lot better in the last few months, although I tend to ignore his posts.

Enjoyable thread! It was refreshing to read Tom_H's succinct statement of what's been said many different ways in different threads. My compliments also to LBrown. In my time on TBN, I've seen a very positive change in his posts.

...But, the plastic also makes you feel like you're driving a toy...
A lot of us went thru this with cars...chrome becoming plastic...plastic bumpers filled with styrofoam...even plastic engine parts. But I finally came around when I acknowledged I was buying technology, not by the pound.

Now to the thread's topic...

When I bought in mid '07, I had been a lurker here for a while and made sure my BX24 had all to date issues resolved, including the seat. For me, pros include: TLB utility with quick configurability, garden tractor maneuverability, and even the plastic fenders. Based on my use, I would have bent metal ones by now. I do think it important for prospective owners to understand their needs, and buy a properly sized tractor...not get talked into a BX TLB that can "do everything.":D As for negatives: The plastic trans cooling fan issue scared me to death (I'm in the woods a lot), so I immediately bought Bro-Tek skidplates. I hate the neck-snapping reverse stop. I try to feather it, but that's hard to do in work boots. I would like to have more hydraulic power, but I needed the BX size...half the time I'm mowing the lawn.

Now that I've been through a winter up north with my BX25, I really appreciate the lack of an abrupt stop. I moved a lot of snow around, which is light and easy to fill the FEL with, so cycling became important. I simply put the tractor in high hear, and I could move around the cottage driveway a lot faster, with minimal jerking when going from forward to reverse.

BTW I had posted on another thread that the BH had lots of power for digging in winter, but I now realize that this was due to the fact that I was digging soil that was covered (and thus insulated) with snow. However, when I tried digging in an area whre the snow had been removed weeks earlier - forget it! LOL, it was like trying to dig into concrete! So, a couple of projects have had to wait until now, when the Spring thaw has happened.

On another note, the tractor always started, and it was over minus 30 Canadian up there!
