Forks Need a set of forks

   / Need a set of forks #51
Thanks again. I wanted to get the fork version of the Quick spade so I could dig deaper for plantings, transplants, etc... So this is my main concern is the reinformcement that may be needed w/ the clamp on forks. The basic bucket version although I am sure a good thing wouldnt really be saving me much digging if all I am going to get is 18" of depth, so this is why the clamp on forks set up would be the way to go for me.

Same basic principle for the forks version however the potential stresses would be greater due to leverage. One very simple idea would be to simply make several layers of plywood for the bottom of the bucket and just clamp the forks over that. Anything that will distribute the load would help.

Thanks again Island, Your suggestions have been a big help, I am going to go ahead and purchase the forks and spade soon and will rig up something as you suggested to go between the fork clamps and the bucket.

Morning Charlton John,

We went with the Forks because one I wanted to dig down like getting stumps out, I've got 7 stumps and it would cost me $100 a hour to get the dug out. I also have three rocks to bury also. I was worried about bending a bucket by putting this on it, I'm already looking at a cutting bar to reinforce out bucket now, I see it bending and I'm hardly adding any force to it.

We decided to build a pallet rack in the back of our shop and that will free up about 1/2 my shop with the junk (farm stuff) sitting there. I can get about 12 things back there where it sits everywhere now. This will also let us have the room to build a heated section to our workshop.

I'll give this guy another day to answer the IM I sent him, then I'll give him a call. If I find out anything I'll shoot the info over.

Thanks Thumper I appreciate it. I dont have a QA bucket or I would get the forks also. So I have no choice but to go w/ clamp ons. I dont have any stumps to dig out only a few transplants and mainly digging holes for about 50 to 100 trees I have planned around the spread so I dont see too much bucket wear and tear happening for my usage. If I go forward I am going to do as Island suggested and just re-enforce the bottom of bucket a bit between where the forks will clamp on. Keep me posted.

Those of you who are looking for a set of forks may want to build something like I did, I have a 200cx loader and John deere wanted close to $950 for a set of Frontier forks, I did not want to have such a heavy-duty set that was so heavy to lift. My loader has a capacity of about 1000 lbs, so I ordered a set of forks from www.budgetforks.com they were real nice to deal with, cost me about $150 for the pair plus a cross shaft for them. Then I set out to build something strong but lightweight, plus a few other modification such as a removable top guard, welded chain hooks, and easy to remove fork tines so I could store it in very limited space. I did alot of drawing on paper, and this is what I ended up with, I purchased the quick attach hooks and pins from John deere, I am still waiting to weld on the pins, (my loader is stored for the winter) With the money I saved I purchased a lincoln power-mig welder :D, so now I can build other attachments. I have about $275.00 in these and they will lift more than my tractor can! I can't wait to get them painted. I am also building a log splitter and have that all ready for paint. This is a hortizontal and vertical splitter. These have been fun projects to build in my off time. I am a middle school shop teacher and have access to many tools, and a nice warm place to work in the winter.....:)

I have two sets of forks for sale, but they are in Florida. One set is the rod on top and the forks will fold. the other set looks like it came off of a fork lift slider.

Does anyone have any opinions on these? With a 200CX loader on a 2320 tractor I definitely do not need a heavy set that can handle more weight than my tractor has the ability to lift. I could make a set but would rather buy a set.
CAL 42" John Deere Compact Pallet Forks CAL-1PFCMPSM42

We noticed that we were getting traffic from this thread, but we have re-organized our Pallet Forks area of the site, and the link that was originally posted is sending people to a page not found. Here is the correct link for the 42" Compact Pallet Forks for John Deere CX 200, 300, 400 SERIES JD FRONT END LOADERS with special JD quick attach.
Don't hesitate to ask us if you have a question about these forks. We have several sets a day go out the door, and you can ask anyone who has bought them, they are of the highest quality, without all the weight! ONLY 220 lbs.!

EverythingAttachments,
I just want to say thank you for your attachment demonstration videos on YouTube. I've watched most of them and find them very informative. Looks to be a great way to sell attachments !

I want to second that. Thanks Ted for your video's they are very helpful to us novices...

Also if itsMeAgain comes through with that 10% discount on a Quickspade Combo I will add one to my pending arsenal of of attachments for my tractor which is scheduled for delivery this Friday. Hopefully he will post a discount code here so that we can use it on his website.

Hey Ted will you throw TBN members the same 10% bone?:)
