Not sure why they decided to have the lights on at all times when the tractor is running??? Seems like they would have had an extra key position or a light switch so they can be toggled.
I disconnected the lights at the plug under the hood, figured if I needed them I could just plug em back in... save on the bulbs.
Just dont really think I need the lights while mowing in the middle of the day : /

My last tractor had lights... with a switch lol and to tell ya the truth I did not use the lights once in the 11 years of use.
This tractor if I set it up for snow blowing I will be using the lights but for now I think I will just leave em unplugged.

Congrats on your new Cubs guys! Man don't they look good!:D I still get warm and fuzzy over mine and it has been almost 6 years now.
I have never tried the mulch plug with the Cub. The Craftsman I had previous to getting my 2518 had one and I wasn't impressed with it.
I like to mow my grass shorter so all it did was plug up.

I hope you like your Cubs as much as I like mine!

I have a key position on mine for the lights. I guess they must want them on all the time for safety reasons.

1*I don't as I prefer the nice green look over the browned dried out dead appearance. :D
2*I like mine but I don't need it or want it.:)

3*Naw; they just don't want to spend the money for the switches and the labor to wire and install them.;)

It's all a matter of preference. Besides I don't scalp it. I mow it on the #3 setting. I get many compliments on my lawn!

Just out of curiosity L Brown. Why did you buy a Cub if you didn't want or need it?
