Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum. I have been reading quite a bit of the posts and wanted to see if I could get some help. I have been looking at a 2006 BX1500 with 340 hours, a 54 in. MMM and a brand new FEL (just installed). The tractor is in good condition and they are asking $8250 firm. I tried to negotiate, but they said the price is firm and non-negotiable. I guess I have 4 questions. First would be is this a fair price? Second would be if this is enough machine for my needs? I have roughly 2 acres to mow (the only hill being a sand mound) and a 500 foot driveway that needs maintaining i.e. snow removal and fresh stone . My third question is.. is 340 hours alot of hours for a 2006? My fourth question and this is the one that scares me the most is...The tractor is a REPO!! The previous owner quit paying for it, so Kubota took it back. The dealer that has it is a Kubota dealer and they assured me that it checked out in every way. I guess my only fear is that the person who owned it before may have abused it knowing that he was gonna lose it. The fact that it is out of warranty doesn't help matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

If it has checked out in every way you should get some warranty with it. If so the price is good considering FEL. The hours are not scary. Mine [54" mmm, no fel] has 1300+hrs with only the water pump going bad [under warranty]. Its a strong little tractor and will do more than you might think - just a little slower. Snow removal may give you some problems. The fel will be slow and youll have to take care with the gravel. Theres not enuf power to run a snow thrower.

340 hours is pretty average. It looks like I will be putting about 150 to 200 hours a year on mine, so 340 doesn't sound high to me. I'm not sure the tractor is old enough to be abused that much. Unless they skipped all the service intervals and ran it without oil, it should be fine. The tractors new enough that even if they skipped all the servicing, it may still be O.K. as long as the dealer just serviced it.

Don't let the horsepower numbers scare you. It will be rare that you would find the machine lacking in power. Diesels always have more power compared to the same H.P. numbers in a gas engine.

My 1830 runs a snowblower and I am sure that 1500 will run one also just a little smaller like a 48"
They are surpisingly powerful machines
Good luck

Thanks guys for the help. It's nice to get advice from guys that actually own the same machines. I will let you know what I decide. It's the best price I have found for a machine that's in good condition. Thanks again!!

I concur. The statement about them not running snowblowers doesn't seem quite right to me. If a Crapsman can run a snowblower, a diesel Kubota can too...it has much more torque than a "normal" gas powered mower.

Wouldn't be the end of it being a repo and all. Like others have said, there's only so much damage you can do in 350 hours. If it looks straight and clean on the outside, the chances are fair/good that it is straight/clean inside too.

I actually do hard work with mine and it looks like a train wreck. No bends, just dirrrrrr-ty. You wouldn't know that it has had ever fluid completely removed and replaced twice in its 240 hour life.

Sounds like a decent deal with a FEL.

I purchased a BX1500 alast year used from Barlows in KY and it is a real cream puff and it cuts great with the 54" mower deck I can cut in high range on the flat areas and drop it down to low range for the hills. I dont have FEL because I have one on my bigger tractor.

Sounds like a good deal to me. You'll be quite happy with the machine's capability. From your post, it's not clear if you have a grave 500 ft driveway. If so, are you sure you want to use a snowblower?

Yes my driveway is gravel. I was planning on using the FEL and a Back Blade for snow removal. I'm not sure where the Snowblower thing came from. I think maybe the other guys were just trying to be helpful and give me suggestions. I have a snowblower now on my Bolens and it's CRAZY when you chuck some rocks. Scary actually. That's one of the reasons I would like to move up to 4wd. I have a Back Blade for the Bolens, but 2wd doesn't cut it in deep snow. Thanks again guys for the help.
