I found the hydraulics talk excellent, will be bringing one of my stabilizer cylinders with me for repacking.
One thing that a lot of guys and gals talk about on the forum is welding and I know this is one of Rick and your shop's strengths. I bet there are a number of people, including me who'd love to see a workshop on welding, both stick and gas. Informatiion on things like, stick number, amperage, surface preparation, arc striking, puddle management, etc. That would include advice on cutting, I'd love to know how to cut steel with both my stick welder and my torch. What a great chance for Miller or Lincoln or the like to get out there and show their stuff to customers, customers who type and talk a bunch all year round about this stuff, I for one would wear my Miller baseball hat every chance I'd get. I've got a miller and they've been great to work with and support their customers real well, be lincoln's the same, or how about Hobart. Plasma cutters is another point of interest for me that I know very little about.
Trailering is always good. What would be great would be a little seminar on truck and trailer capacities and ratings, GVWR versus GCWR and the like, there is a lot of confusion around those numbers.
Another topic of much discussion is Oil and Grease, which types to use, not so much brands but types, weights, moly, etc.
Another nice little discussion would be around tractor storage, best practices with regards to storing your machine, how to prep for storage and how to take out of storage, for me the biggest question is what is the best defense against mice and the like.
Tractor maintenance is another one, how frequently to grease, and change oil, hours versus time for those who don't put on a bunch of hours, how to deal with stuck zerks, etc.
Thanks for considering the mini-bosses B-Day.
As you can tell, I've given no thought what so ever with regards to this year's cookout.
Sincerely,
Joel
