John Deere sold at Lowes & HD

if you're buying the 100 series it doesn't matter. THEY ARE THE SAME AT HD or LOWES AS THEY ARE AT THE JD DEALERSHIP. Please somebody try and tell me they are differen't.

The "real" John Deere? Give me a break. I know many of you are Dealership guys but if you're buying the 100 series it doesn't matter. THEY ARE THE SAME AT HD or LOWES AS THEY ARE AT THE JD DEALERSHIP. Please somebody try and tell me they are differen't. They are not made by a different company they are not designed to a lower standared they ARE THE SAME. 100 Series at HD and Lowes are the same as at the dealership. I'm tired of reading posts that say otherwise. Do you're homework people. By the way I bought my LA 145 from a dealership. It's perfect for my 2 acres and I have no complaints. A JD is JD no matter where you buy it from.
God forbid somebody not wanting to spend 3k or more for an X series mower! There are people that just need to mow their lawn and thats it! The 100 series is fine for what it does. I know the X series line does a better job but all of us are not "mower snobs" as many of you are. "Mower Snobs" that's just pathetic. You know who you are. LOL.
It's the assembly and warranty service along with customer service and parts and repairs that's different.

Make sure you have the snot nosed Kid at lowes, home depot that could give a red rats Azz behind to get parts & service for your new JD.You know who you are,the one that will come crying to the JD dealer how you should be put first before the regular customers who did buy from the dealer for service even though YOU did not buy from them.LOL,coobie.

I could of purchased my 100 series LA 135 at Home Depot, but I bought it from the dealer.
1. He checked out the tractor before I purchased it and made sure it ran well.
2. I was able to increase my warrantty by buying sythetic oil from the dealer.
3. They delievered the tractor to my home.
4, When the blades did not seem sharp enough, they sharpened them for me at no cost.
5. I have a realationship with the dealer, and he knows me. Any time I have a question or problem, he is there for me.

I apologize for the Mower Snob comment. It was out of line. I agree with you that generally the Lowes or HD people are unknowledgeable and don't care but I had recently chatted with my JD rep (at the dealership) and he nothing but good things to say about the Lowes staff selling the JD mowers. Granted this is an isolated experence but I'm sure it's not unheard of.

My whole point was that Lowes and HD sell "REAL" JD mowers. Yes, they are the entry level 100 series but they are not watered down and they are not manufactured by somebody else. I'm very happy with my LA 145. It's fracking awesome(BSG action for those who know) I love it. It does what I need it to do.

As far as the warrenty. I picked up a 4 year warrenty that includes everything but the tires. It was a bit pricey, $375.00, but it's well worth it. You can get this from Lowes too. I had a buddy pick up an LA series from Lowes about a month ago and he was offred this.

I have no love for Lowes or HD but I get sick of all the HATE. Sure, they are big box stores and they sell JD's. Who gives a rats ***. Not all JD dealers are as good as the next guys. I've heard horror stories about some JD dealers as well as HD and Lowes. It is what it is.

JD offers great mowers no matter where you buy them.

I have a question if anybody has experience with the gator mulching blades. I was thinking about picking some up but have yet to hear a good review of them. I prefer to mulch and have the JD mulching plug. I was curious if the gator blades helped the mulching process.

The answer is no they do not. Gator blades are intended to run with the discharge chute open. They are actually designed to mulch the clippings as they pass through rather than process them in the deck. I learned this the hard way then found some good advice after it was to late.

They are assembled at the local JD dealer and then delivered to the Lowes or HD.

Not always, with Deere closing so many dealerships, there aren't "local" dealers in some areas. Not sure what Home Depot does, but some Lowe's store do their own assembly and set up after staff is trained by Deere so they claim.

That is what I notice around here as well (and I think I may have posted that on this topic WAY back)... They even have a drop box so you can drop the warranty card off for the local dealer.

Based on this, I assume (and you know what that gets you) that the local dealer does the service warranty work for the equipment sold at Lowes/Home Depot.. I would also assume they get some credit for the sale (maybe not the profit, but possibly to help their sales numbers)..

But based on other comments here I wonder if the same procedure is used throughout the US.. Either that or the other posters assume that the the dealer wont do the warranty work since you didnt buy it from them, which may be wrong
