I need to replace the flexible "thingy" that runs from the PTO shaft to the 3pt cement mixer. I don't know what it is called. As soon as one of you guys tells me, then I can start looking at what it will cost to replace.

Is it possible to just replace the male/female shafts, as that is what got broke when the hydrolic cylinder from the cement mixer to the tractor came off, causing the shafts to tweek enough so they won't go back together.

Of course............ It is a borrowed cement mixer and it is the first time I have borrowed ANY equipment from him, and I break something! Ya, I feel like you know what.

It is possible to replace just the shafts but it requires dismantling the bearing u joints at both ends and then reassembling. It is a little tricky if you have never done it before. And it requires knowing the exact size of the yoke on the end of the shaft. and it is pretty easy to damage the bearings.
Tractor supply or other farm supply complete PTO shaft asm. You need to know the tractor end shaft size and spline count . More than likely 1 3/8 -6 but not garanteed. Then the mixer end ,probably round 1" or 1 1/4 " diaim something like that. The shortest one they have will probably be too long. Around $170 I think
So you will have to cut the shafts. Probably the eaiest way is to match the one you have.
Check these guys they have a lot of it http://www.agrisupply.com

I just looked myself Maybe $100

Hey, Thanks for the help.

After making a few calls tomorrow to find someone who carries "PTO shafts" ;) I am going to unbolt the end which is connected to the mixer, run it into town, and get it replaced.

The end of the PTO shaft that attaches to the tractor usually has a sliding latch that locks it in place. You just push on one end of the latch, and either push or pull the end of the PTO shaft to remove/install. When putting the PTO shaft on, make SURE you hear and feel the latch snap in place so you'll know it's locked in. Don't want that shaft to come loose after you engage the PTO!!

Just a thought -- if this shaft is triangular and has just come apart, try it different ways -- the triangle is not the same on all sides and only fits together one way ( I have a shaft like that on my rotary mower)

Hey are those like "Easter sheep" in your Avitar picture?

Good guess!

That actually came from an Easter Card someone gave me many years ago. Susan and I raise a few "colored" wool sheep. We have had as many as 40 various colored wool sheep. Our "15 Minutes of Fame" is that we used to own Raymond Burr's (Ironside and Perry Mason) silver wool ram. But, like Raymond Burr, he died!:(
